High King Peter: the Magnificent

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters. They are not mine, I just like to use them and manipulate them
Pairing: Peter/Caspian
Warnings: Well obviously slash and a bit of angst
A/N: This is my fist attempt in the Narnia universe. I've had it written a while ago but couldn't bring myself to finish it.

"You mean, am never going to see you again?" Caspian whispered, his voice barely audible to Peter. He looked up at him from where he was lying on the floor, his dark chocolate eyes fool of hurt. Hurt that Peter caused unwillingly. He did not yet understand Aslan's reasoning. He knew that Aslan knew what he was doing but he couldn't grasp why could he do this to him.

"I'm sorry Caspian, it's Aslan's will" Peter said trying hard to conceal how this was affecting him as well. "I'm really sorry" he repeated tying to make his young lover understand that this is what needed to be done and they truly had no choice.

"But, can't you come back. You came before didn't you? You can come back right" he asked still with a bittersweet hope. Peter knew this was going to be their last night together. Aslan made it pretty clear to him that he was not to return to Narnia ever again. He couldn't bring himself to accept it yet either, but he knew that whatever Aslan's reason, it must be a good one, for he would make a very big sacrifice in letting Caspian go. "I'm sorry love" He said, and Caspian understood that this was it, he clung to him desperately. Peter laid him down in bed and tucked him under his chin. Caspian's head resting in the crook of his neck, his body wrecked with sobs. Peter tried to reassure him but he knew it was fatal.

The sobbing turned into dry sobs and subsided down to a few hiccups now and then. Caspian could not let himself to let go of Peter. "I know, I know" Peter would matter into his dark hair "I feel the same way" Finally Caspian let himself drift off to sleep. Peter knew this was going to be his last time holding his lover so he tried to savor it as much as possible, either with holding Caspier closer or kissing him on the forehead. He spent the whole night memorizing the face of his loved one, trying to hold in every little detail, every little scar that Caspian's beautiful face had. When dawn came, he knew it was time. He gathered whatever courage he had left and kissed Caspian for the last time, living his loved on in bed asleep knowing very well that it was the last time he would ever get to do that. Also knowing that by leaving like that Caspian would be angry, but he had no choice as he wanted to do this as less painful as he could for his young love.

When Caspian awoke he searched for the warmness of his lover finding only cold sheets. He threw himself off the bed and run down to maybe catch a last glance of his loved one, even if it meant that he would see him leaving his life forever. He didn't manage to do that. Caspian fell to his knees and cried, cursing Aslan or whatever God there was up there that would be so cruel as to take his only love away from him. The only person that truly loved him. And wandering if he would ever manage to find someone as magnificent as Peter was.
