A short one-shot about how it was not the made laughter that caused Bellatrix Lestrange's death.

Bitter End

"NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH!"

And Bellatrix Lestrange was duelling Molly Weasley. Both women were in it, and neither would stop until the other is dead. Bellatrix was jumping, avoiding the curses and jinxes Molly sent her, she suppressed cackles as she twirled around and pointed her wand over her shoulder towards Molly, the curse flew by her, almost hitting the woman.

Bellatrix cursed mentally, it was so close. So close. She could've killed the blood-traitor. Bellatrix sneered at Molly, and then smiled, but it seemed to have faltered as a cursed aimed so well almost hit her.

Molly was yelling, instructing the students and other wizards to get away, Bellatrix was hers. Hers to kill.

Bellatrix ducked just in time to dodge the red jet that flew at her, she straightened up, "What will happen to your children when I've killed you?" She taunted, practically dancing over the sails of curses. "When Mummy's gone the same was as Freddie?" she knew it was Molly's breaking point already, that the witch either lost control or would end up firing ten times as much curses towards Bellatrix. She hoped it was the former.

"You will never touch our children again!" Molly cried, pointing her wand towards Bellatrix. Bellatrix let out a mad cackle, a high and cold laughter. She had just sent the Killing Curse at Molly and was sure it would hit her, but when she saw the agonized and terrified face of Ginny Weasley, her wand lowered the slightest bit. And Molly took that time to send her own jet of green light towards the mad Death Eater.

She could've dodged the curse, could've cast a jinx that would protect her, a charm, yes, that was it, but what Bellatrix saw over Molly Weasley's shoulder made her lower her wand even more. Rodolphus Lestrange had just been hit by a curse sent by Aberforth Dumbledore. Rodolphus, her husband, fell to the ground. For a moment he caught her eye and then he was dead.

Bellatrix's smile faltered the slightest bit, her dark eyes, lidded most of the time, was wide with horror and her wand dropped to the ground, the curse that Molly sent to her, wishing her death, hit her square in the chest, realization had hit her. Not that she had died, but that she will never be seeing Rodolphus anymore. She had thought she did not feel love, not for him because she had always loved the Dark Lord...

...But it was because of that shallow love for Lord Voldemort that she died. She died because she knew she loved Rodolphus more than she thought she did. And he died knowing that he had sent his message to her; the second that it took for Rodolphus to say 'I love you' with just his eyes was the second that Bellatrix lowered her guard, she knew she could not respond because he had already fallen, but she also knew one way to show she really did feel the same way for him, and it was to die here and now. To die knowing they had shared something true, even if the time was bitter.

And in the bitter end they found each other.

Fin.

It wasn't said that Rod died but I like to think he did. Death is better than staying in Azkaban anyway.
