Entering the staffroom the teachers of Waterloo Road stopped their various conversations and looked up as I made my way through the door and prepared myself to speak.
As my eyes surveyed the staffroom I started to announce myself, ""Ladies and Gentlemen may I could have your attention, my name is Charlie North and I have just been appointed Headteacher of Waterloo Road with immediate effect"
I could hear shock and ripples of surprise spread across the room as all the teachers digested the information I had just brought to them.
"Replacing Jack Rimmer now that is definitely going to be some tough shoes to full," muttered the famous Steph Haydock who, I recognised, sat perched in between English teacher Grantly Budgen and History teacher Abby Adams who doubled up as one of my deputies.
"Yes, your absolutely correct there actually Miss Haydock, replacing Jack Rimmer will be tough, I've met the man before so I know what a great Headteacher and influence he was and still is at Waterloo Road, I just… well really I just hope that I can live up to the expectations you all have of me," I warmly said.
"So how come you've met the very man himself then? Don't tell me your family," Steph chuckled to herself whilst sipping her tea, still clearly interested.
"Nothing as exciting as that I'm afraid, he contacted me actually, yesterday, I must say he really did give me lots of information about each and every one of you, the teachers to keep an eye on and the ones I'm always able to rely on" I announced whilst trying but failing not to stare at Grantly Budgen who had no idea, much to the amusement of many members of staff
"I know it must be a complete surprise to all of you but I think that's simply how the LEA work I'm afraid," I continued and managed to raise smiles from different teachers as the bell suddenly started to ring signalling the start of the first period as the corridors started to jam up with pupils slowly but surely making their own way towards the various classrooms they needed to be in for registration.
"Ok I'm obviously aware many of you have tutor groups to get to so I'll let you get on with that but please make sure your back here at the end of the day I need to brief all of you about my plans for the schools future. Ok, well I hope you have a great day and see all of you back here at three," I said whilst preparing to head to my office.
