"CEASEFIRE HOLIDAY!" Scout shouted joyously down the hallway.

Nothing Stirred. Everybody liked to sleep in, on the rare gem of a holiday that they occasionally were given. Scout had decided to go against this however. He thought that this holiday could be the one. The one where they go camping, exploring or... anything new really. He was tired of spending the same old holiday wrestling Soldior, or drinking with Demoman. It was time for a fresh experience!

"GUYS COME ON! DAT AIN'T NICE!"

He waited a few moments, suddenly he got a response. But it was not one he was hoping for.

"SHHHH LITTLE MAN! Will wake up whole base!" It was Heavy.

He had stomped angrily out of his sleeping quarters, and was standing in the hallway in front of Scout. Heavy was quite a humorous sight, wearing unexpected kitten pjs. Although the runner had not quite yet thought about the consequences of waking up the strongest man on the team. Heavy could kick his ass.

"Oh hey dere, big guy! Sorry to wake ya." Scout replied, faking a innocent tone.

Now that Heavy was closer, he could see the dark circles gathered underneath his usually bright eyes. He felt sort of sorry for the guy, waking him up like this.

"Scout must know dis by now. Heavy don't like waking up. Not on break!"

Heavy put a large hand against his forehead, looking stressed and fed up. He then proceeded to walk closer to Scout, putting his other hand on the bostonians left shoulder in a almost caring manner.

"Look, if Scout wants friends to play with. Ask to borrow one of docktors birds. If do not like bird, try to play at later time." Heavy suggested, looking him straight in the eye.

Scout gave him a glare back, but then his expression softened. Heavy was just trying to help afterall. Probably couldn't think of anything better than birds at this hour.

"Look, thanks man. But all I really want is to get da team together for the holiday. Mabye go campin? I just don't want it to end up like last summer." Scout replied, looking sadder by the minute.

Heavy took pity on him. He was younger than the rest of the team. No wonder he got so bored, the best thing do around here was have a drink of Demos whiskey. Or listen to Engineer ramble on and on about his latest blueprints and designs. Probably very boring in the lads mind.

"Nicht, will not let tiny man suffer. When everybody is up, you tell dem idea! Will probably bring relief to some men."

Scout said thanks to Heavy, deciding to go snoop around the infirmary. Heavy looked happy that he was not being annoyed anymore, returning back to his room.

Scout could already smell the scent of chemicals and dried blood as he approached the Medics work space. The man was known to practically live there. But he only sleeps there when he drifts off doing some tiresome paperwork. Engineer was the only one except from Heavy, brave enough to tell the doctor to get more sleep. They could all see the bags under his eyes during battle.

Scout slowly opened the door with a slight creak. Trying desperately to not get caught if the Medic actually WAS asleep here, then who knows what would happen.

Examining the room, he spotted the mans desk, littered with paper and used pen cartridges. He slowly crept across the floor, stopping at the desks draws and opening the top one. It had what looked to be a journal written in german, but he picked it up anyway.

That's when it happened. Something slid out.

He picked it up carefully in his hands, judging what it might be. It must have held a letter of some sort because it seemed to be a opened envelope. Daring to peek inside, he spotted a object. But then, his whole body stopped dead still with shock.

It seemed to be a pregnancy test. Did Medic have a wife?! Were they having a baby?! Suddenly he did not feel like snooping anymore. He felt uneasy. Like when a kid grabs a cookie from a cookie jar, but gets caught.

He had not meant any harm in the first place. He just came in, to see if the rumours about the mad doc were true. Who knows what kind of stuff he keeps around here. He suddenly had a funny picture of a spy head come into his mind, quickly shaking it off with a chuckle.

Quick and stealthy, Scout put the envelope back in the journal, shutting the draw as quiet as a well-trained ninja. Hurrying upstairs to get one of Spys croissants for breakfast.

-When Everybody is up-

Breakfast was always a nice start to the day. Heavy would talk to a drunk Demoman about Sasha. Medic and Engineer would talk enthusiastically about science, being the major brainiacs of the team. Scout and Soldior would be wrestling like bros, whilst Pyro cheers on in the background. Spy and Sniper would be talking about the latest news and gossip in the base.

However that's until they all heard a knife clinking gently against a glass. The room fell silent, waiting for a announcement whilst looking at the nervous Scout.

"Uhhhh...hey dere guys. Just wanted to say ah few things real quick. First, I want to know if any of ya are up to going on holiday? Well you see I asked miss pauling, and she knows a private area we could er...camp at. Second, I wanted to make this holiday different. So if you say yes. Den I am splitting you into groups with different tents."

The Scout finished, looking even more red and nervous by the minute. Hoping and secretly crossing his fingers, that they would say yes.

That's when the unlikeliest thing happened.

"Well boy, that's a yes from me." Engineer replied, looking enthusiastic.

"Aye, we all deserve a break." Demoman agreed with a sparkle in his eye.

A happy "yephhh" came from the pyro.

The rest of the mercenaries gave nods and a few laughs. Everybody who wasen't particularly excited to go, still atleast wanted to humour the boy. And there is no way, Spy was missing this out. Loads of new bonds will probably be made, and with that. New secrets are spilled.

"Okay den! Pack up guys. We are getting outta here!" Scout exclaimed with a buzz of new-found energy.

He was jumping up and down and fist bumping the air with triumph. This was going to be so much fun! Even if it meant bringing the annoying Spy along with them.

However something caught his attention, the Medic seemed to be a bit distressed. Even whilst giving a friendly smile. This was not right.

"I also wanted to ask something quickly." The doctor spoke up amongst the ongoing chitchat.

"Yes, mate?" The Sniper responded. The room falling silent once again.

"Did anybody perhaps, go into zhe infirmary last night? It may very well be zhat I am just going mad, but some things have... been moved." The Medic finished, glancing at the faces around the room suspecting someone to speak up.

The Scout couldn't keep a straight face, he began to go a deep shade of red. When the doctor looked at him, he faked a smile. Shrugging his shoulders, as if he did not know anything. But, Medic had not got a PHD in phycology for nothing. He knew when someone was acting fishy.

"Herr Scout, would you mind following me." The Medic let out tired sigh, practically dragging the Scout out of the room.

Heavy gave him a warning look, as he was pulled out of sight.

"What... did you see?" Medic asked, impatiently tapping his foot on the floor.

"I dunno what you are talking about doc." Scout replied, looking away.

"DO NOT act stupid with me Scout. I know you went in there." Medic angrily glared into his eyes.

"Okay, okay. You caught me! I was bored. I wanted to explore. Also, how did you know someone had been there in the first place?"

The doctor let out a string of german curses, mentally slapping himself.

"How do you think dumkopf? The door was wide open!" The Medic now looked embarrassed, more then angry. His face had a deep blush and he was now the one looking away.

"Also doc, do you have a frickin' wife?!" He asked, confused as heck. Hopefully he would get a awnser that didn't involve him being injected with a needle.

"Ja. I have one... back in germany." He awnsered, still looking away. Was it just the light, or did he see a tear form at the edge of the docs eye.

Scout quickly walked closer to him, trying to seem more comforting. In all the years he had known the man, he assumed that he did not have a family. That he was to mad and bizarre to have anything like that actually. But no, he was wrong. And now he felt gosh darn terrible.

"Den... is she having a baby?" Scout asked, hoping that may brighten the atmosphere. Everybody loves babies, even the Medic must.

"Nine... it did not survive the birth. Luckily she did, but mentally. I don't she is well."

With that, the usually stoic Medic, broke into tears. It was weird seeing him like this, usually he hardly made a face about anything. The only time he smiled was with his birds or playing chess with Heavy. And he never looked sad, only angry. Like when Soldior kept calling him old. Apart from that, he would always have a dignified look of a adult.

This was just plain scary. Scout, patted him on the back quickly. Trying to lighten the mood. The Medic slapped his hands away, rapidly trying to pull himself together.

" I am so sorry you haf to see me like this, I just... miss her" The medic quickly wiped away the tears. Trying to regain his calm expression.

The Scout understood. And he was going to fix this.

-Later that Night-

"Miss pauling?" Scout asked into the phone.

"Yes Scout. What is it that could possibly get you to ring me at this hour?!"

" It's da doc. He ain't feeling right. Did you know he has a wife?" He replied anxiously.

"Well yes, I did. Is something the matter?" She asked with a hint of worry.

"Yeah, he and her tried for a kid, and it failed... And now she is left all alone, without da doc to comfort her." Even the Scour noted the atmosphere getting gloomier.

"Well that is unfortunate, but what do you suppose I do Scout?" She replied with a sad tone.

"I want you to invite her on the holiday, we won't be anywhere dangerous!" He pleaded, clutching the phone tighter in his palms.

Silence filled the air.

"Okay, but we cannot let the administrator know! Try and keep this a secret from the Medic until we get there. I shall contact his wife and let her know." Miss pauling, sounded almost excited.

"Hey Miss pauling?"

"Yes... Scout?"

"Do you want to come?" He asked, beginning to sweat.

"Finally, dang it.!" She replied with a chuckle.

"Okay den, I guess that is yes?" He just wanted to make sure.

"Yes Scout. You goofball."

The two spent another hour laughing and discussing plans ahead of time.

Excited for the memories to come.
