How to Pronounce Akatsuki

Kakashi stared at Itachi Uchiha, the one who murdered the entire Uchiha clan. "You're part of the A-kat-skee."

A vein throbbed on Itachi's forehead. His usual calm, emotionless mask broke as he yelled, "It's not 'A-kat-skee', it's 'A-kat-SOO-ki'! When will you English-speakers stop ruining the show and pronounce things right?!"

A short pause followed. "Wow, Itachi," Kakashi said in amazement. "I thought you knew how to speak Japanese."

Itachi glared at him. "What?"

Kakashi rolled his eyes. "It's A-kat-skee, not A-kat-SOO-ki. Don't you know the 'u' is silent sometimes in Japanese?"

"But…it's spelled like A-kat-SOO-ki in the subtitles…"

"You watch the subtitled episodes? Haven't you ever even listened to how words are pronounced? Or do you need more 'official' proof?" Kakashi pulled out a copy of Japanese For Dummies, which he just so happened to be carrying. "Part One, Chapter One, page twelve. 'The vowels i and u come out as a downright whisper whenever they fall between the consonant sounds ch, h, k, p, s, sh, t, or ts.'" He snapped the book shut. "Are you happy now?"
