Castiel Novak sighed as he flipped the sign on the entrance to the little coffee shop from 'OPEN' to 'CLOSED'. He loved his shop, from the expresso machines to the library nook in the corner, it was his crowning achievement.
But he couldn't help but feel that his time that day could have been spent to further the story sitting in the folders on his laptop upstairs. He probably could have gotten some work done on it, if it wasn't so close to the holidays.
It seems his day was filled with a constant flurry of customers, and by the time he had a chance to look at the clock, it was already well past eight. He smiled softly, remembering that his brother was due to come in sometime tomorrow afternoon.
'"Aw, but Cassie," Gabriel had pleaded, "It will be so good to have a real Christmas together again. Besides. There's nothing in California for me anymore, so who knows. Maybe I'll find something for me in New York!"'
Chuckling, Castiel set about cleaning up his shop, preparing for tomorrow. He took careful measures with the machines, and extra care in the overall cleanliness of his 'book nook', as some of his favourite patrons called it. He reveled in compliments from passers-by praising the overall look and feel.
'Maybe one day I'll have my books on that bookshelf too,' he mused as he turned off the lights and locked the door.
