Hanger
Hangs the clothing,
Puts away.
That's what the girl does all day.
Alone and crying in the night,
She wants to love and not to die.
But mother beats her,
Aunty sighs.
Grandma wonders,
Father lies.
Someone tattles,
Someone tried,
To save the girl with such a life.
Big men come,
Guns and all.
Shoot the parents,
Watch them fall.
Take the girl,
And take her far.
Somewhere new,
Higher hopes.
Girl's now thirteen,
In the quire.
Hanging fliers for the school.
Teacher beats the young girl senseless,
Threatens her with death and sex.
Scared and crying,
Girl hangs fliers.
For the concert,
For the band.
Finally her chance for stardom,
Silent tears fall down her face.
Hear the teacher's threats of violence,
Quietly she walks on stage.
Sings a song about her hardship,
Blame the teacher for her pain.
Crowd is angered by what they're hearing,
Ragingly they take a stand.
Once again the big men come,
Take away the evil man.
Drive him off in one direction,
Other way the girl is sent.
Years go by,
Girl becomes woman.
Each day she prays for her life.
Boyfriend hits her as she's sleeping,
Long clothing hides her pain.
Calls for help,
But no one answers.
No big men,
Or angered crowd.
Unaware to what is happening,
Woman tries to kill the pain.
Beverages and grasses sooth her,
But nothing ever seems to change.
Alone and crying in the night,
She wants to love and not to die.
No choice is left,
She can not try.
Life hurts her so,
And death is tempting.
Ties the rope around her neck,
She gently drops down.
Hangs the woman,
Kills herself,
Ends the horrid pain.
What once started as hanging clothing,
Now ends like a game.
There the woman hangs,
All day,
Everyday,
Like her mother's laundry.
