Cut… Into the Horizon
Story by: Cruzstar
Any and all characters is of course the property of DC Comics.
I have a lot of short tales about the AU bat-clan that sorely goes off the comic line and AU characters that are planted for my little dc world.
Well here goes…
-
The portrait of Dr. Thomas and his wife Martha still adorn the wall that Bruce placed upon the wall decades earlier. Many times over he's held little ones and spoke about his parents with less hint of the pain he's held within for countless years after the fact. Each child queried and let their innocent remarks about whom those two people were like. He could count out on one hand the similar questions each youngster would want to know like, 'We're they nice' 'Would they like me' or just the look they gave him with those puppy dog eyes waiting for more of a story. Children loved stories and he had no problem indulging in giving any one of them a tale about any one memory he still held too.
So much time has passed since he played the vigilante hero and he was alright with the world. It must have been the whole aging process he kept telling himself why he has mellowed out the way he has. Though he knows it's more likely that it was his wife's fault. That and the little wonders he never in his earlier bachelor days would think he would father.
He was never one to look back on his choices they were a waste of time. With all the mistakes he's made he was glad that the little things that counted weren't to far out to be fixed.
"Grandpa!" The boy huffed as he waved he's little hands back and forth trying to get Bruce's attention.
Bruce knew his grandson was trying for the last half a minute to get his attention. He suddenly seized the boy into his arms which made the boy gulp in surprise.
Then the little boy being calm again began to talk a mile a minute, "Grandpawegointo parkpromised we going yes"
Bruce looked at his handful and just nodded leaving the boy to squeal as he tried to then get out of the embrace.
Letting go of the boy and watching him zip up the stairs to find his brother. He saw one of his boys come into the study.
"Dad the security team is ready if you have any…"
"Ethan, I can handle it."
Ethan just nods while letting out a sigh it not that he doesn't know his father can handle any situation but he was a father of the two little boys that were going to be placed in danger. It was a public park and what possibilities can arise well it was just his nature to be cautious.
"Fine, I'll be downstairs looking at a case. If you need anything…"
"I'll call." He looks at his boy for a moment, "I'll call when we get there."
Ethan says nothing but waits for his father's last words to the conversation. "If you have your sister out there spying she should be out of sight."
Ethan smiles as he knows it's his que to leave the room. He dials a number and waits for the familiar female's voice. "Dad's expecting you… Yep it's not like we can pull any thing over him… Yes keep a low profile… He's old but he can still you know… Alright!... Thanks. Bye!"
