Virelai nouveau form. About the War on Terror. If there is just a little less terror in the world because of our efforts, all has not been for naught.

Lord, let there be a little less terror in the world.
Lord, protect our warriors on the eastern desert shore.
Lord, please see them through each and every day,
then please bring them safely through one day more.
Strengthen them as they bravely make their way
through the unknown, the darkness, the fire, the scourge.
Lord, let there be a little less terror in the world.

Our nation unpeeled to its very core,
growing more fearful, angry, restless, unsure,
but detached at home we can no longer stay.
Ours is the duty so long as ours is the power.
Though victory may not come today,
if we gave up, how could we ever win this war?

Lord, protect our warriors on the eastern desert shore.
Of tyranny, help us spread a little less; of freedom, a little more;
May we bring a little hope where there was none, I pray.
