SoulxMaka FanFic Chapter 1
A Confession
It was a Saturday. Maka and Soul were walking home from another game of basketball, the sun was setting, and they both had words they wanted – needed – to say. But neither could bring themselves to, so they walked in silence.
It had been three years since the Kishin had been defeated; Maka was 16 now, and Soul almost 17. He'd grown into a very cool man, and Maka was becoming quite a beautiful young woman. Soul glanced at her. The way the sunlight was reflecting off her face, her skin glowed and her eyes sparkled. He looked at her more carefully. Her tan hair was longer and more golden, and her body was beginning to curve in all the right places.
Suddenly, she shivered. It startled Soul, who had been lost in thought.
"Are you cold," he asked.
"No, I'm okay. I just forgot my sweatshirt."
He pulled off his and handed it to her. She took it, and slipped it over her head. It smelled like the soap she used to wash the laundry, and the body spray he had began using. It was a warm, musky, comforting smell.
Maka grabbed a handful of the fabric and brought it up to her nose. She closed her eyes and took a deep inhale. When she opened the, Soul was staring at her.
"Oh. Um…" She didn't know what to say.
Soul continued staring.
"Is something wrong?"
He snapped out of whatever thoughts he was lost in and shook his head.
"No, it's just… you're getting much better at basketball." Which was true.
Maka smiled. "Thanks."
She started walking again, but Soul just stood there. I have to tell her, he thought. We're going to graduate soon and if I don't tell her now…
"Maka!" he called.
She stopped and turned around. She had gotten way ahead of him, so he had to run over to her.
"Maka, I have something to tell you. It wouldn't be very cool of me to let us graduate without you knowing."
Maka's heart skipped a beat. Soul placed a crooked finger under her chin and tilted her head up at him. He looked into her brilliant green eyes. Her heart skipped faster.
"Maka, I…"
He closed his eyes and pressed his lips to hers. Maka felt as if she would faint. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her more deeply. Then he pulled away and looked into her eyes once more.
"I love you."
