The brain is separated into two hemispheres, with a crease down the middle. No one ever thought it odd. Until one day a scientist named Joshua Trambler, studying the brain, discovered that the brain is missing something. Joshua began researching and found that do to this we can not access all of our brain power.
Calling it Project Overhaul, he continued, Being joined by more and more scientists. Until they had developed a synthesized organism, not unlike early arthropods. It fit perfectly in the gap of the human brain. They called these organisms G.B.O.'s (gap bridging organisms). They began getting test subjects and implanting the G.B.O.'s into the subjects. At first the subjects bodies completely rejected them, and no matter how much they tried to stabilize them, they would ultimately fail. Discouraged, the benefactors of this project wanted to pull the plug, but Joshua had an idea. Why not use a new born? Their still developing brains might accept the foreign organism.
They implanted a G.B.O. into a 3 day old child. After a few days of struggle to stabilize the child, it finally succeeded. Overjoyed, the benefactors allowed project overhaul to continue. bringing in 9 more new born babes and implanting G.B.O.'s in all of them.
After 2 years of intense research, not a one thing stood out. no enhanced strength, speed or intelligence. Not even any abnormal brain activity. Finally the benefactors had had enough. They cut all funding, and Project Overhaul was dismantled. The children who's parents didn't take them back where placed in foster homes.
15 years later one of the scientists was found dead outside his home. His body riddled with what appeared to be red arrowheads. the material that these arrowheads where made of couldn't be identified. it was more durable than diamond yet somehow lighter than a feather. There were no finger prints, no sign of struggle, not even so much as a bloody shoe print. The bodies of the scientist and benefactors began turning up. Each killed with a different weapon, and in different ways. One was hang from a tree upside down by a chain, allowing all the blood to pool in his head and drip out through his nose. One was found with swords rammed trough his heart and throat, and daggers in his temples. Yet all the weapons were made of the same mystery material...
