The young chinese man sipped his tea and nibbled delicately on his cake. After he was finished he would wash up and be off to bed... or so he thought.
Suddenly he felt a tightness in his chest, and the animals around him reacted by growling, hissing and jumping up and down in their cages. Q-chan fluttered to his aide, screaching loudly.
"Leon..." the chinese man gasped.
In his apartment the blond haired, blue eyed American known as Leon dropped to the ground. As his body hit the carpet a pill bottle rolled from his fingers, but no pills left the bottle. No pills were spilled because there were none left... Leon had taken them all.
The door swung open and Count D bolted into the room. He knelt beside the fallen American, who was just barely conciouse.
"Count?" Leon mumbled, seeing the Count through half closed eyes.
"Detective, why?" D was bent over his friend, frantically pushing the fallen peices of hair back behind his ear. Leon had never seen him act like this before.
"How did you know?"
D ran an elegant finger along Leon's cheek. "A man always knows when the one he loves is in danger."
"The one... he loves?" Leon was getting too weak to speak, but still he continued. "Count, I..."
"Shh," Count D put his finger to Leon's lips. "I'm afraid I will be unable to save you this time detective... I'm sorry."
Leon felt a tear fall from the Count's mutli-colored eyes and land on his own fave. He wanted so desperately to speak, to say, in his last breath, the words he'd been wanting to say for so long now. But the Count wouldn't let him, he knew that.
Count D pulled Leon into his lap and held him close. "I'm sorry," he repeated. The one human he could ever love was leaving him, and for once there was nothing he could do about it.
Leon's entire body was growing cold and he felt very tired. "There's so much I wanted to say," he said, gasping for breath.
"You don't have to say any of it," Count D whispered. "I know it all already." He bent down and layed a tender kiss on Leon's lips.
That kiss would be the last thing Leon ever felt. Whent he ambulance arrived they would find a stricken D still cradling the body of the only man he would ever love.
The End
