He had his left hand over his chin, gently brushing over his stubble, his other hand holding his smart phone before him, his lips silently reading the text he just received.
Is it a new outbreak or what?! Chris! Leon's been calling me nonstop and I'm in a very important meeting right now! I can't even excuse myself to use the phone—actually I've to switch it off soon. Can you call him and see what's up? Please text me if you find out, I'm so worried.
Now one of his brows was furrowed, his blue eyes narrowed. Lips stopped movement as he received another text.
And yes I texted him telling him I'll call back and can't answer right now but no! He won't stop calling. I'm switching off right now. TTYL!
Chris now blinked. "What the hell…" he said as he swiped left from his contact list to get to the fewer contacts in his 'favourite' list, and pressed Leon's.
"Chris?"
To his surprise, Leon instantly picked up. "Hey, Leon. Would you stop hitting up my sister? She's in an important meeting at the moment."
"I'm not hitting on your sister."
"Did I say that?"
"You...just..."
"Leon…?"
"Chris?!"
"Are you drunk?"
"Ah…"
"You are…man." Chris sighed and ran his free hand through his hair.
"I've been calling you actually…but you and Claire have the same surname so I must have…that's why I mistook her number for yours…Chris but...I was calling you not her..."
'He is drunk, damn.' Chris thought. "'Are you okay?"
"Yeah I am…" sniffling noises came from Leon's end.
Chris squinted. "Yeah?"
"Yes—is it true though? You and that Nivans guy…Piers?"
"Me and Piers what?"
"I can see it in his eyes, he's so in love with you, Chris…" a sob, now. "Ah, Chris…"
"Leon…man." Chris shook his head briefly. "I'm sorry."
"I'm alright…Chris. I just thought…you and me…"
"Me and you?"
"Yes. God dammit…!" a few more sobs.
"Hey, Leon?" the tone of Chris' voice suddenly changed into a questioning one.
"What?" Leon sounded very calm now.
"It's freakin' Monday morning. What the hell are you getting drunk for?"
