Authors foreword and disclaimer:
I do not own Ninjago, nor do I make any money or profits from the writing of this story. The characters belong to Ninjago.
I do not own the Marvel cinematic universe, nor the comics and books that inspired me to write this fictional adventure.
Furthermore, as with some of my fictional stories, I always put some warnings in. I'm a mature adult and the majority of stories I write will be mature in nature. The stories, in question, will most likely contain cussing because hey these guys are in their early twenties (in this story.) Maybe a little 'hide the sausage!', did I say they were young adults? Hormone ridden? Hey, we weren't all good girls, I know I wasn't!
My stories will almost certainly contain blood, violence and gore because hey, they're Ninja and trained to kill. finally, it's rated M for a reason, so if you're of the sensitive variety, turn back now.
For your information; this is just the prologue. The writing style is intentional and is meant more as an introduction to everything that has occurred so far up to this point.
Present day:
The 'Destiny's Bounty' was an airborne ship, oriental in design with a dragon head prow. The wooden masterpiece had originally been made for the seas but then adapted for both once; the modern age arrived. Now, it doubled up as a fortress, a sanctuary for the occupants who lived aboard.
Sensei Wu was the master, he wasn't a pirate, far from it. First and foremost, he was their learned Sensei and trainer of the ancient arts. And, as a way to keep them all together and training, he invited them in and shared his home with them. A family, a team of five brothers and one kunoichi in total. And yet, this was no ordinary family, these brothers were not related by blood. It was a bond formed from the adventures, battles, and obstacles they had overcome. Some of which had been close to tearing their team apart.
The students that lived aboard were the ninja. Supposedly famous heroes as they'd often heard being bandied around through the city streets. Though nowadays, they tended to shy away from the public eye. It encroached on their private lives too much if they allowed it. Yeah, being famous wasn't always fun, especially when you had the grocery run to do.
Outside on the deck, training as per usual was Cole. His brothers sitting to the side of him, watching and waiting for their turn.
Cole could have been mistaken for an EMO guy just by his looks alone. He wore black and his raven locks were unkempt and occasionally held back with a flimsy piece of rag to keep his eyes clear. The only thing that made him look different from his brothers was the sheer amount of muscles on show and his olive tan. Cole preferred to focus on his training, he was always a stickler for all things to do with body conditioning. Constantly trying to outdo himself and others. He was such the competitive one, the one who was stronger than the rest. His only weakness was cake.
Then there was Kai, the hot-headed one of the group whose red gi matched his fiery temper and surprisingly, his element of fire. Years before all of this had happened, Kai had been looking after his younger sister, in place of their missing believed dead parents. He became overprotective as most older siblings would, believing that no-one was good enough for her.
Kai was easy to distinguish because of his wild styled hair. The brown spikes alone were impressive, not on par with mohican's or even anime style but still, the guy must have had shares in hair gel. As usual, the red-clad fighter was sitting on the sidelines, waiting for his turn to spar. He cast an untrusting glare at his sister's boyfriend across the deck, the one who always wore blue and who was currently trying to get a little too close.
Jay felt the glare. He gulped and sat to the side of his girlfriend. Not usually one to insult his brothers on purpose though, Jay was sometimes playful and often annoying. But at this moment, he really didn't want to be on the wrong side of Kai, not considering that less than an hour ago, Jay had tried to propose to Nya at lunchtime. He was athletic looking, tall-ish wish short auburn-haired and a nick through his right eyebrow. Not quite as tall and muscle-bound as Cole was but that didn't stop him from putting up a good fight. Unfortunately, because of his mouth and the speed he would talk at, Jay was currently known as the mouth of lightning, Zaptrap and even motormouth for his sins.
He was a talker, a joker and an all-around homeboy. And his element was a testament to that. Jay was the elemental master of lightning, a skill passed down through the bloodlines. His brothers were the same too, each having their own elements to learn and control.
Earth, Fire, Ice, Water, Energy and Lightning, respectively.
Lloyd was the youngest of the lot. A blonde haired green eyed twenty year old who had mastered the element of energy. Strangely enough, the kid hardly seemed old enough to have seen and experienced all that he had. Supposedly, he was the team leader but he often let that title slip to Cole, for an easy life. Most times, when his uncle Wu wasn't around to tutor them, Lloyd appeared laid back. He enjoyed spending time with the team because most often than not, his brothers in arms would lounge around and play on the console and Lloyd would join in on the fun too.
Zane was the odd one out. He wasn't even human yet he could control ice, a sort of cryokinesis.
Initially, he was created by someone who was childless, but rather than inventing a childlike robot, this man created an adult, making him look like any normal person would. A good few years ago, Zane had found out the truth of his upbringing. And accepting it had further made his later sacrifice all the more worth it. His body was the only one that could have endured what it had at the hands of an entity and the subsequent fight for power had resulted in a drastic change of appearance. No longer did he look like one of his brothers, Zane was pure titanium, like all the synthetic skin had been removed and all that remained were his metal features.
Nya, she was the younger sister of Kai. The only girl in the group who could fight her own battles, and the one who had come up between Cole and Jay. She was the elemental master of water, maybe not the best match for someone who loved to dabble in electricity as Jay did. That was probably one of the reasons that she had considered Cole as a worthy boyfriend a few years ago, when she was still dating Jay. He was the strong master of earth after all, earth and water mixed well.
In a whole other realm, was a mischievous brainwashed God. The poor man looked sickly grey with hollow blue eyes that made him look like he was being controlled by someone or something. He was being forced to sit, to concentrate on using the power in the sceptre to control the minions surrounding him. And, it was a lengthy process.
His astral form was sitting there, in sanctuary. Watching as before, waiting for his cues to cast all his strength of mind into the sceptre. Until a distant element caught him by surprise. Of course, he knew where his brother was at this moment in time, pretty much everybody did. But, this wasn't where he should have been, in fact, the more he focused on it the more he became intrigued and then annoyed. Subconsciously, he was watching but not concentrating on what he should have been as a blue insignificant speck moved around on an otherwise hidden realm.
It continued to keep his attention in that moment of intrigue, but he dismissed it just as quickly, putting it to the back of his mind because he had a task that needed to completed or he would face likely punishment at the hands of someone he hadn't manage to see.
Again, he cleared his mind and projected his astral form to communicate with a creature known as 'The other'. But damned Odin's beard, this blue insignificant speck had caught his gaze and ultimately, his attention. The moment of mental weakness had allowed the creature a chance to inflict injury upon the God and he winced as white-hot pain shot through him. The action of which, brought him back to his physical body on earth.
No, he would need to try that again.
More importantly, he wanted to know why there was an elemental that exhibited the same force as his brother did.
