Drabble #8: Star

Summary: He already had everything he could wish for.

He liked to go off on his own a few times, just to think and plan the next day's journey. He did not like being disturbed too much unless for good reason, or unless it was Aeris doing the interrupting.

He had heard her approaching long before since his Mako enhanced body made all of his senses much sharper. However, he pretended that he had not noticed and continued leaning against the tree beside him, staring out at the blackness ahead of him with no particular interest.

"Boo!" she whispered, wrapping her arms around his waist tenderly and pressing her forehead into his back. Cloud smiled and allowed his hand to travel to his waist, gently taken hers in his own and letting his thumb glide over it gently.

"What are you doing out here?"

"Thinking," he replied. It had always been his answer and nobody, not even Aeris ever expected him to say any different when confronted. She sighed and moved back a little but only so that she could step by his side, taking his hand once more as her eyes scanned the sky.

"Look! The first star of the night!" she cried, pointing up with her spare hand. Cloud glanced up a small smile gracing his features as he saw how Aeris stared at it adoringly. She turned to him suddenly.

"Make a wish," she whispered before she closed her eyes and it was obvious to the blonde that she was making a wish. After a moment, she reopened them and looked at him expectantly.

"Did you make a wish?" she asked.

"No," he replied honestly before pulling her closer to him. "I don't need to. I've already got all I could ever wish for,"
