Chapter 1
At First Glance
It was a Sunday in Fall. Leaves were changing colors and falling with grace to to touch the ground after their time has come. It was a particularly nice day out for a picnic with friends and that's exactly what I went to do. It was the most wonderful picnic we've had so far in fact. It was just with a few close friends of mine. The friends who were there was Beatrice who is a fire bender, Mia who is a water bender, Nielsen who couldn't bend at all, and Darien who is also a fire bender. As for I, my name is Autumn Emerald Rose Beifong. I have long wavy hair that is naturally ombre'd from brown to white and have green eyes with blue and orange specs. I am 18 and I come from a royal family. I am also currently the next in line to become queen of the Earth Kingdom next to my father. My great-great-great grandmother was Toph Beifong. Toph and I were very close and in her old age she taught me everything about earth bending but I am the only one who can turn earth into beautiful jewels. She sadly passed away 3 years ago. My specialties are lava bending and jewel bending. I have never dated before and I am the top pro bender in republic city. Anyway, enough bout me; lets get back to the story. It was a cool but sunny day and we had our little picnic in the park. Today the park wasn't very crowded but there were still plenty there to make the park seem more full. People usually come to the park when there are rallies or festivals happening but none of that was going on. My friends seemed like they were having a good time talking and playing little games together. I was mostly people watching but not many people stood out to me. I glance over at Darien because I noticed his gaze from the corner of my eye. "May I help you?" I ask because it was obvious he wanted something.
"I don't want anything from you at the moment" He responded with his arms now in front of him and his gaze set forward away from me. Darien was always weird like this but maybe that's because he's my "body guard". His family has been serving mine for years but I don't consider him a body guard since we grew up together but that's how he wants me to see him so I just pretend. I start looking around the park again and this time I noticed a boy. This boy didn't seem special but I only noticed him because he was staring at me. Usually this didn't phase me from strangers but the way he looked was intriguing. I decided to get up and go over to talk to him.
"Excuse me a moment everyone, I need to say hello to someone". Once I got up Darien started to follow. "Alone please" I tell Darien. Darien gives me a look like I know I shouldn't do that and he'll get in trouble but this was important to me. "Fine, but don't be too long" he responded with regret in his voice. I turn toward the boy who was still staring at me and started walking over. The park was still pretty crowded so it was hard to make my way through. Just when I got close to him a crowd of people walked by and as soon as the crowd cleared he was gone. I looked around but there was no sign of him, just a little note. I pick up the note and opened it; "Meet me at the pro bending arena tonight at 10, come alone. -S.I.".
