This was it.

He was gonna do it. Today's the day.

Just ask him.

How hard could it be?

Castiel oh Angel of the Lord, how about a date?

Cas, fancy coming for a ride? Ergh no way.

God you're such a mess, get a grip, Dean mutters, gripping his hair.

"Dean" grumbles Cas. "Jeez Cas, a little warning", Dean replied as he spun around to see Cas standing in the doorway to the kitchen.

"Sorry Dean, you seemed distracted?" Cas replies head tilt to the max, reminding Dean of the German Shepherd puppy he'd seen in the parking lot of the supermarket last week. It had been the cutest bundle of fur he'd ever seen, ("Way to go, numb nuts, you've definitely lost the plot, cooing over a puppy") It had been whilst rubbing the puppies tummy he'd noticed the resemblance to Cas, the curious head tilt, whilst looking around at a brand new world full of promise and also full of strange and wondrous things.

"Dean?"

"Sorry Cas, I guess I am distracted today", Dean mumbled whilst scratching at his stomach, making his t-shirt ride up a little bit, and damn did he, no … , let me do that again…scratch, scratch, oh yep definitely saw Cas taking a look then, smiled Dean inwardly.

"Mmm Cas, do you like puppies?"

Cue Head tilt, I love it thought Dean.

"Yes Dean, doesn't everyone?" questioned Cas. "Why?"

"Well, most normal people do, I think" replied Dean. "I was just wondering if you wanted to go to the park, maybe take a picnic, I know you don't need to eat, but maybe some nice sweet strawberries and some of the ye olde lemonade you said you liked last week, we might be able to see some dogs and puppies at the park?" Dean replied looking hopefully at Cas.

"Okaaayy" said Cas looking at Dean curiously.

"Look Cas I'm going stir crazy sitting here waiting for another case, Sam's constantly with Eileen and you keep zapping off to god knows where, I like puppies, I like picnics, I like you, so why not combine the three and get out of here for an afternoon" grumbled Dean, with his back to turned to Cas, as he started packing a bag of food.

"I'm only leaving to give you some space, I have no where pressing I need to be Dean"

"Well don't then, I mean don't leave, I don't need space, I just need you, here with me, umm maybe for always", mumbled Dean

Cas stared at Dean intently, like he was reading his mind, eyes never wavering. "Dean?"

Blushing, Dean replied "Cas?" Fighting back a smile. Hopeful, tentative…

Cas smiled, then … "Okay" beamed Cas, like the sunshine breaking through a cloud. "I would love to go to the park and look at puppies and eat strawberries".

"And maybe when we get home we can watch Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkahban?" questioned Cas.

"Anything you want Sunshine" grinned Dean as he pulled HIS sunshine in to his arms.
