Summary: Flay's Death. Based around the last episode and my favorite quote "My True Feelings Will Protect You." What Flay was thinking while in the escape pod and what she wanted to say to Kira.

My Feelings Will Protect You
Inside an escape pod heading for the Archangel Flay is thinking about all that has happened to her. She had been through so much. She saw the death of her father, who she loved so much. She also lost the only boy she had been in love with without apologizing for all she had done to him, then to find that he was actually alive gave her hope that she could apologize and the will to live. The time she spent with Zaft made her realize everything she needed to learn. She had become a different person. She would no longer be a selfish brat who was scared of everything and that didn't know what was going on. She was supposed to end this war with the key Rau gave her. What went wrong?
Flay flashes back to what happened. Azrael was ordering the crew to fire the lohengrin at the Archangel when she cries out to the Archangel to warn them. Azrael hits Flay and gets ready to shoot her when Natarle stops him. Natarle saved Flay and the rest of the Dominion's crew by sacrificing herself.
Natarle…thank you. Now I can thank Kira. I can tell him the truth and how sorry I am… I was using him to get revenge. I was using him for my own purposes. I need to tell him how I feel…how I fell in love with him. I know he won't love me back, I hurt him too bad. The least I can do is apologize for all I have done. All I want is to get to the Archangel!
Flay snaps out of her trance to see Kira fighting Rau.
"Kira!" her voice echos through space.
She watches as Kira fights Rau with all he has. Then the freedom looks as though it's looking at her.
She shouts "Kira!" again.
Kira starts to go towards her. Rau aims his gun smirks and shoots at the pod. Kira extends his arm and shield to deflect it. He has to save Flay, he hurt her. He barely manages to block it.
Flay looks at Kira through tears of happiness. "Kira."
Kira really is alive and he saved her. Kira smiles back at her. Then Flay hears an explosion behind her in the pod.
Rau's weapn shot through the back while Kira was distracted. Kira's smile turns into shock as the pod explodes in a fiery show. Flay's scream can be heard as she burns away like a rising phoenix in the explosion.
Kira screams "Flay!"
Rau flies away content with what he has done.
Kira screams her name again. "Flay!" Sobbing Kira asks "Why Flay? Why her?" He screams in agony and goes after Rau for revenge.
Before he goes Flay's spirit appears and says what she has wanted to say for so long. She finally gets to apologize.
"I am finally free, I can see you so clearly now Kira. So please don't cry anymore, you don't have to cry anymore. I will protect you now. My true feelings will protect you."
Flay's death send Kira into seed mode and gives him the power to defeat Rau. The freedom rises and its mission is to destroy Rau and end his tyranny.
