Shizuo's POV
I have never liked fire.
It was the very antifice of what I want my life to be. I want to have a calm, peaceful life. Like the water. It is so relaxing. It's not destructive like fire. Fire burns and consumes into it leaves piles of ash in its path.
As much as I hate fire, I have no choice but to accept its existence. It is part of my very existence. Many would think that my special ability to bend fire was the coolest thing in the world. I was one of the few people in the world chosen to be able to wield the destructive flames. Many would consider me to be lucky, I consider it a curse; a curse that I cannot control as much as I would like to.
"Come on Shizuo! I want to see it!"
"Does it hurt when it comes out?"
"Have you ever burned anyone?"
"Shut up, shut up, shut up!" I repeated in my head as my classmates crowded around me to try and beg me to see my fire bending. Like hell anything like that would ever happen. As much as they begged, they were never going to see it. As the pointless pestering continued, I tried my best to tune it out. Feeling my temper begin to rise, I chose the safest route.
I got out of my seat and got the hell out of there.
On the way out, I passed the teacher. He yelled at me to get back to class, but his cries fell on deaf ears. I was long gone, mentally and physically. Students stared at me as I passed, whispering to each other.
A fire bender wasn't rare per say; about 1 in every 4 births result in the birth of a child that would be able to bend fire. The mass majority cannot and, those that can, mostly hid it or kept it hidden until they were in their early twenties. I made the mistake when I was younger to show it to what I thought at the time was a friend. After that, it spread like wild fire, no pun intended.
No, fire benders were not as rare. You see, long ago, there were equal parts fire, earth, wind and water benders. Then there was a war. Basically, all of the other elements were taken over except for the water benders.
The water benders were taken out completely.
See? I told you that fire only lead to complete destruction. I continue to walk until I meet a sliding door. Gently, I open the door and let out a small breath of relaxation. In front of me was my source of peace. The sound of water running met my ears. The grass was a bright green and surrounded a lake. The place was kept away from any onlookers by a huge wooden fence that made the area a private sanctuary. Quiet sounds of trickling were the only thing that could be heard in the area. There was a huge tree that stood alone among the grass and the lakes. Walking over, I sit down on the cool grass and lean back into the tree. The tree was close enough to the lake that I could see as the water pass. Gently it flowed down the stream. Slowly, I allowed my finger tips to dip into the chilling water and just allowed the liquid the pass around it. It really was the best way to relax. Closing my eyes, I allow the tranquil sounds lul me into a state of mind that could be compared to as when one was about to fall asleep.
"What are you doing?" Snapping my eyes open, I tilt my head upwards only to see a man that I had never seen before sitting on a branch at the top of the tree. Has he always been there? The man blinked and stared back at me with brown eyes that had a red hue to them. He had short, jet black hair and was dressed in an outfit foreign to me. Everyone wore an outfit that was either made up of red, orange, or brown. Occassionally there would be black or white accents, but the primary colors were warm. Why, I have no idea, but this man in front of me wore a /blue/ outfit. He wore capris that were a dark blue and a kimono style shirt that was a combition of blue and aqua with a white obi. A complete contrast to my brown capris and sleeves red and black shirt.
"Who are you?" I asked with genuine curiosity, but the question seemed to go right over his head.
"Do you like water?" The question caught me off guard. After a moment of recollection, I nodded. "Why?" He asked me with a slight tilt of the head. I thought for a moment about how to answer. Sharing too much information with people got me in trouble in the past so now I like to keep more to myself.
"Dunno, I just like it." I said with a shrug. The man stared down at me in silence. A moment went by before I started to feel uneasy with the lack of conversation. I opened my mouth to speak once again but was cut off when the boy jumped down from the tree. He walked over to the lake and kneeled down. My caramel colored eyes continued to stay glued on him as he dipped his hand into the water and swirled it around.
"That's kind of a dumb answer~ But I expect nothing less from your kind~" The dark haired male said. Confusion swirled in my head at the words before realizing that they were meant to be insulting. My body clenched up slightly as I felt annoyance start to build up in me. I step forward to yell at the man, but am stopped when he looks over at me and splashes water from the lake in my direct. With a slight gasp of shock, my hands go up to shield my face from the liquid. I stand there waiting for the water to meet my skin…but it never does.
Slowly, I open my eyes to look at what happened. They almost burst out of my head in shock at the sight that they behold.
The water had stopped in mid air.
My eyes started at the floating orbs of liquid before trailing back to see fingers tends and an extended arm that seemed to be holding them in place. They continue their venture down until they settle on the man with dark hair. He has a smirk settled on his lips as his red hued eyes stared into mine. I am completely speechless. How is this possible?! What…What is going on?!
"Nii-san!" My head flicks back towards the door. The sound of water falling on the ground does not go unnoticed by man as my eyes settle on my younger brother. There is a bit of rustling behind me and I turn my head back around to look at the man.
But he is gone.
Just…what the hell is going on? Was…he…water bending?
YES! This is based of the world in Avatar: The Last Air Bender. However, that is where it stops. This is not a cross over or anything like that. This story came to be when my fiance and I were making fun of Shizuo fire bending. Please review! It makes me update quicker!
