The laughing died away slowly as the remaining tears streamed from their eyes. The blonde lay down on his back with a sigh of contempt. "I haven't laughed like that in… forever," he stated with a slight chuckle.
"Yeah, it has been a while," the brunette replied and he too lay down. As a comfortable silence settled over them, the blonde rolled over and smirked at the brunette. "What are you-" he began to ask, but was interrupted when the blonde poked him playfully in the side, earning himself an undignified squeak from the brunette.
"It's been a while since I've been able to do that, too," he grinned. The brunette just stuck his tongue out at him, but smiled back none the less.
"You know, one day you're going to do that and I'm going to end up falling off a cliff," he stated.
"You certainly jump high enough," the brunette snorted at this comment, "And just where is this cliff you speak of?"
"Oh, there will be a cliff," the brunette said with an adamant look, "but that was your plan all along, wasn't it?"
The blonde just raised his brow and smirked again, poking him in the side and openly laughing when the muffled squeak escaped his mouth. "Yep," he answered, amusement lacing his voice.
The brunette huffed, though only in levity. The blonde rolled onto his side, shifting until he was facing the brunette. The latter turned his head, curiosity flitting through his eyes.
"I…-" the blonde started, but his voice was drowned out by the loud clang of the nearby clock tower. The brunette furrowed his eyebrows at him in confusion, prompting him to finish what he was trying to say. "I… have to leave."
Disappointment fell heavy into the air, almost a physical weight trying to keep the blonde here. "Oh…" mumbled the brunette, "Goodbye then…"
Slowly, the blonde stood up, meticulously brushing off the dirt from his robes. Glancing up, he placed a familiar smirk on his face. "'Byes' aren't actually that great, love."
The brunette gave a small smirk of his own, "Unless you're talking to an enemy. That would be rather good."
The blonde openly laughed then, "I suppose, goodbye then." He leaned down, placing a light kiss on the other's unaware lips. A gasp of surprise left the brunette's mouth, before leaning up into the kiss, but the blonde was already leaving by then.
