When Kakashi had told the younger ninja that they wouldn't get a bell without intent to kill, neither of them had actually intended to kill him.
"NARUTO!" Sakura screamed, slamming the blonde guy into the closest tree. "YOU KILLED KAKASHI-SENSEI!"
Naruto blinked once, twice, three times, then started to cry.
"Um, Naruto?" The pink-haired woman whispered, releasing her tight hold. "It... it was an accident."
"I killed Kakashi..." Was all she received in response. A blank expression crossing the rest of his face not marred by tears. "I killed Kakashi."
"You thought you'd killed me, yet you abandoned the bell?" A voice said cheerfully from above the two. "You'll never get anywhere by crying when you kill your opponents. Not that you actually killed anyone, I mean..."
Naruto continued to stare at the body he thought was Kakashi, then began to growl softly as it disappeared with a 'poof'. "KAKASHI!" He yelled, frantically gathering chakra in his feet whilst looking up into the branches above. As suspected, there was their teacher. Crouching down with that damn book.
"I really am going to kill you now!"
The older ninja didn't doubt Naruto one bit, and quickly pocketed the latest edition of Icha Icha. "That's the spirit. You only have 10 hours until dawn, after all!"
