He sat on the beach doodling in the sand he had a lazy smile on his face that was dully illuminated by the currently setting sun. It wasn't as bad as he thought it would be here, For one it wasn't as hot as he had expected, For two it wasn't as noisy and for three, well, lets just say he hadn't expected the company of his friends while he was here.
Shikamaru finished his sand art and decided to head back into town to get something to eat before heading back to Konoha. He was going to miss being here, because even if his visit was short he still enjoyed it more then any other mission he had been on. He hadn't relied on arriving to a party, but he should of known Temari would do something like that, she was always coming up with weird new idea's and stratagies. This was, of course one of the many skill's she had learned in her several years of training to be a ninja.
Shikamaru went into the nearest food store and headed to the ramen isle, you could always count on him to pick the easiest food to prepare even if it wasn't his favorite. On his way he saw Kankurou trying to find some sort of food that him and his siblings would all like, there taste's we're VASTLY different so this was not an easy task. And it showed. He stood there glaring at the two different food's in his hands, grumbling to himself and trying to decide which one Temari would like better and if Gaara would eat it or not.
Shikamaru sighed. Might as well say hi...He thought while walking up to the hapless puppet ninja.
"Yo" he said in his usual lazy way of speaking.
Kankurou looked a little startled but quickly calmed down when he realized it was a friend of his.
"Yo" he replied.
There was an awkward silence as both of them stood there unsure of what to say, being friends simply through Kankurou's sister Temari they didn't know each other all that well.
"Soooo...How are you three doing?" Shikamaru said trying to break the silence.
The Blackclad puppet ninja was unsure how to reply, sure they we're doing fine but that was it. Nothing exciting had happened but if he just said "fine" they would be back to the awkward silence.
Then again if he waited to long to reply Shikamaru would think something bad happened... Unsure of what to do he simply answered:
"Good, good...just...sorta'...you know..."
"Thats good...uh...so...I better be getting ready to head back to Konoha, I have to leave in the morning you know..."
"Yeah, we'll uh, see'ya next time you come by then"
"Yeah...See'ya" Shikamaru said before heading to pay for his ramen and leave. "I hope Tsunade send's me on more mission's here..." he thought smiling a bit to himself.
