Thirteen. That was how many openings Raven could see in Yang's defences from her perch in the tree just above. Thirteen possible ways that her daughter would either be at her mercy, or dead. Not that there was much of a difference. Raven would've made a snide remark, but she didn't want to be seen. All either of the people and dog had to do, was look up, and she'd be there, plain as day, but one did not become a successful bandit without learning to hide right next to your enemies. She'd been watching Taiyang train their daughter for the past two hours. Their daughter. Screw Qrow, screw anyone who said she didn't care. Yang was just as much her's as she was Taiyang's. But despite that, she was so much more Taiyang's daughter than her's. If that was her down there, Yang wouldn't just be sweating. She'd be bleeding. She'd be learning to fight without her emotions clouding her judgment, or controlling her actions. If Taiyang had taught her that one lesson, her daughter would still have both her arms, she wouldn't have had to save her from a mute illusionist.

Raven watched as Yang was finally able to punch Taiyang back. If he was fighting seriously, he would've seen that coming and most likely had that fancy new arm of hers in his hands and her a couple feet away on the ground. Taiyang was far too kind of a man. Even when Yang's tournament fights came up, he was too nice. Yang was sloppy, and to sum up the rest, stubborn, just like...her?! Raven listened as she became to the topic. The more Taiyang talked, the more Raven felt the prick of emotions she'd buried long ago, as well as a few others. Those emotions were quickly pushed back down. She would not allow them to get in the way again. She had already caused enough pain when she left. She was not about to do that again. Not when there was one hell of a fight on the horizon.

Her daughter was learning. But not fast enough. Beacon had pampered her. Taiyang was being soft on her. She and all her friends were ill prepared for the real world. If her daughter wanted to fight the likes of Adam Taurus and come through whole, she'd have to learn from her own mother. Whenever her daughter comes to her. She'd be waiting.
