Setting: Camp Half-Blood, on the beach.
Time: After the Son of Neptune, while they are traveling to Greece and Rome. The Argo II is making an overnight stop because of technical issues.
Note: I'm trying to keep the characters well, in character. Please tell me if I did a good job.
Percy sat by the shore, watching the sun sink below the horizon. Annabeth sat close beside him, leaning against his body.
"Peaceful, isn't it?" Annabeth asked.
It took Percy a second to respond. His eyes were still fixed on the horizon. He nodded.
"It's nice for a change. I always feel like there's so much pressure. I mean, first we save the world from the Titans, and now, with the new Great Prophecy..."
"You're happy for a break." Annabeth said, understanding him perfectly. Even though they had only seen each other a week ago for the first time in 8 months, she still knew Percy like the back of her hand.
The sun, that glimmering disc of gold sank below the horizon, leaving behind only traces of its brilliant, fiery beauty and melting into the velvety blues and blacks of the night. Their faces were illuminated in the moonlight. The waves lapped gently against the shore.
"I love you, Wise Girl." Percy said quietly.
Annabeth smiled and kissed his cheek. "It took you that long to figure it out, Seaweed Brain?" But then she whispered back, "I love you, too."
Percy looked down, but Annabeth could tell from his eyes that he was a whole lot happier. "It's getting late. We should go back to our cabins before the cleaning harpies come out."
Annabeth nodded. "See you tomorrow, Seaweed Brain."
"You too, Wise Girl."
They both stood up. They kissed, then went back to their cabins for the night.
