Title: Destiny
Author: Christy aka just me
Rating: pg-13
Summary: Takes place just before the episode 'Crash'. Max realizes.well
pretty much nothing, but the poor guy is an idiot so be gentle with him.God
isn't finished with him yet. Lol.
Max was in a hotel room. He really didn't want anyone to know he was there, but he had to be there--just to see.
As he flipped through the channels, he caught glimpses of those 'adult' shows that are sometimes on local cable. The 'found' nudity and not pay-per-view. Since he didn't know what he was doing there, he guessed paying for porn wasn't very realistic.
Actually he did have a pretty good idea why he was in the biggest dive on the outskirts of Roswell. It had less to do with the cost and more to do with seclusion. Tess was supposed to be meeting him.
Well, he didn't really know this for a fact, but by the really messed- up dreams--could he call them dreams; he'd been having them while he was awake as well. The fact basically kicked him in the head. Tess was coming back and was bringing his son with her. And, of course, she wanted to claim him again.
Not like he wanted to be 'claimed' by her again.of course not. He hated and didn't believe in the whole destiny crap she had tried to force- feed him. He was so sick of living the past life, as if the past and the present were the same thing. The only thing he was here for was to straighten things out, but he knew that she would naturally assume he would follow her like before.
He convinced himself that it was good for everyone involved-- including and especially Liz--if he got everything under control. Because when he'd wake up sweating and utterly aroused, he wanted it to be about her--Liz, the woman he 'knew' he would one day marry and not the unwanted mother of his child. And the sweating and arousal came after the dreams. She was having an unusual effect on him and he couldn't quite tell if it was real or one of her mind warps. The way he felt, he wanted to say the latter.
There had been no sightings of lates so he couldn't trust himself to make a good judgment. After all, dreams are just dreams once in a while, but he hadn't dreamed of her once since her departure and so it seemed crazy that he would now that everything was going well.
He didn't remember falling asleep that night but he remembered waking up alone and laughing at his stupidity. He loved Liz and there was no way he would have stayed in a hotel waiting for a girl from his pas unless he was and idiot.
But all would not be well in his little world. There would be news about a crash and then a cover-up, which they had to infiltrate, and finally the return of the first woman he had ever made love to. But she would be hard and cold and so less human. And he would realize he had embraced his humanity and so would she. And he would end up losing her again not to mention his son who he would have loved to keep, but didn't think he was a good enough person. Then he and Liz would get married and they would run off into hiding.
His real destiny awaited him and he knew that 'destiny' wasn't held in the past, it was housed in the future. And even though it was written already, he wouldn't know what it was until The very End.
