January Event (Level 3: Colin Creevey/Ginny Weasley)

-oOo-

Colin had fallen in love with the first picture he took. Ginny Weasley was in his year and his house, but she had barely said three words to him. It wasn't her fault. Every time she tried to talk to him, Colin pretty much ran away. He was a Gryffindor, brave and bold, but he couldn't talk to the pretty girl with the red hair.

So Colin stayed back, and decided to just admire her from afar. The camera came in handy for that. He really prayed no one saw the film in there, otherwise it would be a great deal of red and freckles.

She never noticed him looking at her and Colin was thankful for that. He didn't think he could handle having to explain his affections to this girl, especially since he didn't understand why he felt the way he did. He barely knew her and what he did know, he had learned second hand. They had never talked so it was silly for Colin to fall so quickly for this girl.

But he watched her and he noticed a few things. As the year went by, she seemed to get more and more tired. She was falling behind in classes and didn't hang around with people as much as she had. He had asked someone, but no one had an answer. No one else noticed.

When she sat next to him in potions class one afternoon, Colin really got a look at the bags under her eyes. She looked so exhausted. Storing his camera into his bag as he didn't need Professor Snape confiscating it again, he turned to the girl beside him.

"Hi-Hi Ginny."

Ginny looked at him, like she hadn't realized he was there. After a moment, a small smile touched her lips. "Creevey is it?"

"Ya," he answered excited that she knew his name. "Are you feeling okay?"

She narrowed her eyes and looked at him like she didn't understand.

"It's just," he started mumbling, "You looked kind of tired. And you don't eat as much at dinner. I know we don't really know each other, but I just want to make sure you're okay."

Ginny smiled so brightly it was as if the potions lab got a new window installed. A spark danced through her eyes as she looked at him.

"I'm okay," she said, her voice lighter than before. "Thanks for be concerned."

Colin wanted to respond, but he was at a loss for words. Professor Snape entered the room, instructing them to open their books. Colin didn't hear him though. Even after Ginny turned away, he kept sitting there, smiling like an idiot.

There was no denying it. Colin was in love. It was stupid, young love built on nothing at all, but love none the less.
