Eternity

As their hands touched, she could have sworn she was alive again. Everything became clear, and even her translucent flesh felt more real. She couldn't believe it when she felt his presence in her world; even now, she felt so guilty about what she had thought then. Pure elation. That was what she had felt. On reflection, she realized that she hadn't felt a twinge of doubt or sadness. Nothing that was normally attributed to the death of a loved one.

"I've waited so long," she murmured as he gathered her up in his arms. She let herself relax in his arms, almost crying for joy.

"Marian," he whispered huskily, the sound making her shiver. She spotted tears in his eyes and wiped them away with a delicate finger. "I cannot believe my eyes! Have I been cheated by some spell?" he whispered, placing his hands on her cheeks.

"No, Robin, it is I!" Marian cried joyfully as she leaned in to kiss him. His arms held her strongly and she smiled at his usual musky scent. Robin kissed her back, but pulled away, holding her even tighter.

"I fear that if I let you go, you'll float away," he admitted, looking into her clear, blue eyes. She studied his face for a moment before responding.

"I have all ready been there," Marian said, her eyes clouding over in remembrance. "I didn't see it with my eyes, but I felt it. It was odd because…" she trailed off, her brow furrowing. "I was not happy. I think it was because I knew… I felt… that you weren't with me. I wept. Heaven was hell because you were not there and—" her voice broke with emotion. "And now I weep for joy because I am here with you!" Tears trickled down her cheeks and she let out a small sob. She buried her face in his chest like she used to a lifetime ago. "I love you, Robin Hood."

"And I love you, Marian," Robin murmured, letting out a relieved chuckle and resting his chin on the top of her head. Her sobs left her within a few moments; she gave him a watery smile. He relinquished his tight grip on her, gently taking her hand.

"We shall wander these woods for all eternity," Marian whispered, kissing his cheek softly before taking a step towards the heart of the forest.

A/N I hope you thought this one-shot was realistic! It's 400 words exactly, and, obviously, set just after Robin dies. Robin Hood belongs exclusively to the BBC, not to me. Reviews are greatly appreciated! Bisous ~ the shattered star
