Mike: The Vampire Slayer
Author's Note: Obviously this is inspired by Buffy The Vampire Slayer. It's not a crossover; it just includes many terms/themes from the series. So, hopefully, it won't be at all confusing. Please R&R!
"Into each generation a slayer is born."
That's what Charlie told me on my 14th birthday. He went into this whole dramatic speech about how I was destined to kill vampires and other baddies in our world. He had books on it and everything. It was all pretty thrilling and a crazy birthday message. The sort of thing that makes calm people geek out.
I think I said, "Get the hell away from me, you psycho." Or something along those lines.
Turns out Sheriff Charlie Swan is my 'Watcher', which basically means he trains me and tells me when all the supernatural forces are hyped up, so I know to be on the lookout.
I should probably tell you that Charlie's like the least likely Watcher of all time. He's a hard-nosed, old-fashioned guy who'd much rather deal with crack dealers and rowdy drunks than vampires. I mean I've always respected him and thought he was pretty cool, but he's not the bookworm, stand-back-and-watch type. Plus he has that dorky mustache.
More importantly, I am not the type of guy who should be out slaying vampires. Yeah, yeah, I know it's my destiny and it's not like the fates can just pick out the best-suited people for the job.
But I have a life. I'm quarterback of the football team, class counsel VP, an above-average student…I'm not supposed to waste time on creatures I didn't know existed. When's the last time you saw a high school jock take out a werewolf? Besides, I'm kind of against killing. In 7th grade I went vegetarian for, like, an entire month.
I really shouldn't complain. Everything was pretty chill. Charlie said this place was a hotspot, but we rarely got more than a couple vamps a year, nothing I couldn't handle. All the supernatural activities stayed calm enough that the citizens of Forks didn't notice anything, no one got killed, and I was able to keep a semi-normal teen life.
Of course, that all changed when Bella came here.
Author's Other Note: So obviously, this was a short intro chapter. I'll continue if you want. It's not a Mike/Bella fic, in fact I may be bashing her a bit. Please review!
