A.N.-A short story, Itachi's final words to Sasuke.

He closed his eyes, he knew what was coming he gathered his thoughts

He picked up his pencil and wrote exactly what he was thinking

Dear Sasuke,

I only wish I had the courage to tell you this in person, I've been lying to you, to everyone, we are not the last Uchiha's. I only wish I could have told you sooner but it would have endangered my mission.

I know you left your village to join Orochimaru, but the next time you meet Kakashi tell him, that I'm sorry, sorry for the trouble I've caused, the lives I've endangered, the lives I took, all the times that I lied to him and you. I'm sorry

I'm writing this as my final words, I expect that my time on this world is short. My life will end before days end, either by your hand or "The Shadow King's".

You were always important to me, just know that many times I saved you from Kisame. Friends are an important thing to have, don't let Naruto drift away from you, or you will die alone, as I have.

I've made many mistakes in my life, not getting closer to you is the greatest. Slaughtering our clan is the next. I wish that I had been there to help you through your problems with Orochimaru.

There are so many things I wish I could say here Sasuke but there is only so much space on the paper and only so much time in the day, so I'll say all I need to here. I love you Sasuke, you my brother, you will achieve greatness, I trust you to recreate the Uchiha bloodline, I wish I could join you.

Goodbye, Itachi

Itachi dropped the pencil as tears welled in his eyes.

Kisame stood in the doorway, "Yo, Itachi, Leader says it's time."

Itachi nodded "Very well, I'll join you outside."

Kisame smiled and walked away "Please, Take your time."

With that Kisame left. Itachi looked down at his letter. He grabbed it in one hand and balled it up. He threw it away as he left.

The wastebasket by his desk was filled to the brim, with balled up letters each with the same address

"Dear Sasuke"

A single tear rolled down Itachi's cheek. "A final letter, that will remain unsent." As he left the room he snapped his fingers and the papers in the can lit on fire.

He walked down the hall and out to join Kisame in the front.
