A/N: Ok, so I know I should be updating Dragons and Lions, but I randomly got this idea in my head while listening to my stepdad tell a story and I wanted to write it Drarry style. I don't think the British celebrate 4th of July (why would they?), but I can kind of see Draco being fascinated by all the colors and loud noises. Anyway, enough of my pointless rambling and more Drarry!
Harry really couldn't understand it. Sure, fireworks were all sorts of pretty colors and unique shapes, but didn't Draco know that the Americans celebrated this day because they were freed from the British?
'Well, maybe not, seeing as how that's muggle history, but still…' The green-eyed man thought, letting Draco lead him by the hand to a park where they could clearly see the fireworks. Shaking his head of the thoughts, Harry turned to look at his boyfriend, who was sitting down on a blanket and staring up at him with bright silver eyes.
"Come on, Harry, sit down! You're blocking the view of the fireworks! We didn't pay for this trip to New York for you to just stand there and not admire the fireworks!" The former Slytherin exclaimed, patting the spot next to him. Harry smiled and rolled his eyes at his surprisingly childish lover.
The raven sat down in between Draco's legs, and moved backwards until Draco's chest was pressed firmly to his back. "We also didn't pay for this trip so you could spend even more money on clothes, you know." Harry chuckled, sending his lover a mischievous look over his shoulder.
"Hey, do you want me to freeze or burn out here? Hermione told us that the weather here in America changes a lot, so I wanted to be extra prepared! And what's wrong with buying American wizard fashion? It's different from back home." Draco retorted, wrapping his arms around Harry's waist and squeezing.
Harry huffed, but was immediately shushed by Draco when he saw a few fireworks go off. The other wizards and witches in the park all let out cheers as one particularly huge firework set off, exploding into a red and green heart.
Draco and Harry both let out an awed gasp as they saw it, and watched it fade slowly, being replaced by even more fireworks of different colors: blue, purple, gold, pink, orange, along with more red and green. Turning away from the light show in the sky, Draco glanced down at Harry, only to see the shorter man looking up at him with his emerald eyes.
Smiling softly at his beloved boyfriend, Draco leaned down and whispered against Harry's lips, "I love you, Lion. Thank you for taking a vacation and coming here to watch these stupid Americans celebrate their freedom from us. They have no idea what they're missing out on."
Harry laughed and pressed his lips against Draco's, feeling like he was on top of the world. After a few more innocent kisses, Draco once again looked up at the sky, just in time as a wizard from somewhere behind them shot off a magical firework. The couple watched it explode into a multitude of colors, and 'ooh-d' and 'ahh-d' with the rest of the crowd.
However, the moment of awe was ruined by Draco suddenly pushing Harry face-first into the grass and dirt, screaming, "I GOT EMBERS IN MY EYES! AUGH!"
Harry had a feeling Draco wouldn't want to see the fireworks anymore.
A/N: Ok, maybe it was kind of stupid, but whatever, I'm really tired from moving and unpacking. Let me know if you see any spelling/grammar mistakes, and please review! I'll get back to work on Dragons and Lions now.
