Disclaimer: I don't own the awesomeness that is Supernatural.
It's back to snide remarks, unwanted hell-memories, and a work-in-progress towards a permanent stay in the loony bin.
Sam regrets the moment he started interacting with Lucifer again, but Sam knows he won't regret it forever. Like it or not, Lucifer helped him save Dean. What Sam regrets was becoming too panicked to even think clearly enough to save his brother from a messed up human.
A horrible thought crosses Sam's mind: Lucifer might be helpful on occasion. But Sam knows that anything Lucifer offers comes with a price. Like his sanity.
Lucifer prides himself in slowly driving Sam towards the cuckoo's nest. Lucifer smiles, as he fondly makes Sam relive every single moment of his time in the cage. Dean's sanity will follow soon after.
So unless Sam desperately needs Lucifer's help again, he will do everything he can to find a way to shut the devil up!
It's a good thing Dean's passed out on his crappy motel bed, after their hunt with the talent-scout demon.
Sam knows he won't sleep the moment Lucifer sets his bed on fire. He walks over to the bathroom and quietly locks the door. Lucifer, of course follows him, like a disturbed, hellhound puppy.
He takes out the hunting knife that he always carries on him. Sam stares at the glistening blade and then shifts his gaze towards his scarred hand. He traces the blade's edge over the faded scar. Sam makes sure to cut it as deep as it was the first time.
"Tut, tut. I told you that wouldn't work, Sammy. I'm not going back into that noggin of yours. Besides, it's too crowded by your failed attempts to ignore hell, but you're welcome to try again." There's an exaggerated hand motion towards his blade.
Lucifer's spawned fire spreads, and Sam hears Dean's screams in the next room over.
And Sam tries again and again.
Yup. Just an idea I had since watching Repo Man and whenever Sam uses pain to banish Hallucifer. Great episode. And now I'm all early-Supernatural nostalgic!
