Sokka was a terrible artist.
He was blunt, argumentative, and tended to think in straight lines, unless thinking in curlycues was more likely to result in trouble, or great ideas, or terrible ideas that lead to great things, or great ideas that caused trouble or...
But sometimes Suki thought of him as an artist anyway.
When dusk had filled up the valleys of the land and the sky was the same blue as his eyes, he'd sit before her, delicately removing her makeup. He'd slick creme over her skin, wipe away her warrior's paint in reverse order, lips, eyebrows, face, always saving her eyes for last, smoothing away the red pigment with a delicacy that she never used with herself, smudging away the last little bits of paint with his bare fingers, touching her light as butterfly wings.
When he did that, Suki never felt more naked, or more loved.
