AN: Hey, everybody! I saw a picture that inspired this little one shot. A group I like on facebook posted it and asked for someone to write a headcanon or a short chapter about it. So I did. This is my first ever Dramione piece. I hope you like it.

"Kill her." The elder Malfoy ordered his son. "She's a distraction. A waste of time. A mudblood." He growled at Draco. "You're a disgrace for ever having feelings for that filthy girl."

Draco sat in silence as he listened to his father yell at him, his heart breaking. He loved Hermione Granger. He really did. Now, though, he was being forced to kill her… He wouldn't and he knew he wouldn't. He needed a back-up black and very quickly. "Yes, Father." He said faintly. This was the worst Christmas holiday ever…

"Hermione, we need to talk." Draco said as Hermione went over to hug him when they saw each other back at Hogwarts. The brunette paused as he didn't hug her back, but nodded.

"Okay." She said softly. Draco took her hand, leading her up to the astronomy tower. No one would bother them here

"My father ordered me to kill you." He said faintly. Hermione's eyes went wide at that.

"Wh-what?" she stammered. She took a step away from him. She knew the influence his family had on him, and sometimes that scared her—like right now. He grabbed her hands, pulling her back to him.

"I'm not going to kill you." He promised softly. He couldn't do that. Not to his Hermione. "I am, though… Hermione, I'm going to obliviate you. You won't remember anything about us."

"Draco, no!" Hermione protested. "We can…we can figure something out. Together." She said, grabbing his hand and holding it tightly. Tears welled in his eyes and he pulled his hands away from her.

"No, Hermione! No, we can't!" he told her, his heart breaking as tears streamed down her face. She was beautiful now, even crying… "I have to do this, Hermione. I have to protect you. I love you!" He couldn't let anything happen to her because of him.

"I love you, too, Draco." She sobbed, biting her lip to try and hold them in. Draco raised his wand, his voice breaking on the next word that came out of his mouth.

"Obliviate."
