Disclaimer: Not mine!

"Technology that is sufficiently advanced is indistinguishable from magic." Skyfire said, in a calm tone. Starscream merely snorted loudly and turned back to the table in front of him, the one with the prototype matter transmitter lying on it in several pieces.

"For instance, that thing you're working on." Skyfire pointed at the pieces of machinery. "Were it to actually work the way it's designed to, instead of overheating to the point of melting itself-"

"'Fire, I don't harp on it when YOU screw up. Kindly do me the same courtesy." the seeker said, slightly frustrated with his partner and the prototype. "There is no such thing as magic. There is science. What you would term magic is only technology that is not fully understood, or something similar." Starscream sounded rather sure of himself on this point.

"You just agreed with me, Star." Skyfire said quietly, a small grin on his lips.

"I did not!" Starscream put his hands on his hips, his wingtips twitching slightly. "It's not the same thing at all!"

Skyfire knew that it was easier to humor his partner rather than argue over semantics, so he merely nodded. "May I show you something, Star?" he asked, changing the subject. Starscream looked at Skyfire warily but nodded, following the shuttleformer out of their temporary lab on Aelis IV. As soon as they cleared the crest of the hillside, Starscream's optics widened and he gasped, transfixed at the sight.

"It's Cometfall, Star. Happens only once every vorn and a half in this system." Skyfire's smile was genuine, and he reached out for Starscream's hand as they stared into the sky, watching the rainbow patterns dance and whirl through Aelis' atmosphere, burning up in showers of prismatic light. Skyfire edged closer to the Seeker, impulsively picking up the much smaller scientist and laughing. Starscream squealed, but not in anger.

"Put me down, you silly overgrown wingnut! What's gotten into you?" Starscream was trying desperately not to laugh as he clung to Skyfire.

Skyfire's cobalt optics flared in amusement and something less definable. Bringing the Seeker up to optic level, he tilted his head. "Magic, Star." He kissed Starscream gently. "Definitely magic."
