David Haden was just about to call it a night when his phone rang. It was Olivia Benson, his love one, asking if he will be home for dinner. He approved and carried on. He couldn't wait to feel her soft skin against his, smell her tender perfume and watching her eyes close in peace as they were kissing. We fit together, he thought. We really do. He remembered what Don Cragen had told him when he found out about them:" that girl has been through a lot. She needs a hero". He really wanted to be strong enough so she can allow herself to be vulnerable. He wanted to be her hero. It wasn't going to be easy because detective Olivia Benson would not admit she needs anyone. Not in a million years. She was used to doing everything by herself, taking care of herself just great. That is why she hated hospitals – didn't like when other people took care of her. That is why this relationship thing was so hard for her. David didn't struggle for a beat. He placed his head on her chest as she ran her fingers through his hair. He talked and talked about his ex-wife and his other girlfriends, his growing up with an alcoholic father that use to smack him around, the cases he won and the cases he lost and how he feels about it and his children. He cried when he talked about his two little angels. He missed them a lot and couldn't wait to see them on holidays. She envied that ability of him – just to let everything flow away from him, leaving his soul completely hers. She wanted to learn how he does this. But maybe it was too late for her.
