"I'm sorry they ruined your night." He said sitting down next to her. He turned his head to her to study her. She had pulled her hair free of the ponytail it was pulled back into so her brown curls were cascading around her shoulders. His eyes made his way down to her cheek that looked purple and blue and it was about to bruise. He flinched as she kicked her leg hard and sent her high heeled shoe flying into the distance. It landed a good 20 feet away on top of someone's car with a loud plunk. He looked at the brunette next to him then whistled.
"Damn." He said noting the damage the shoe did to whoever's car that was. They would defiantly have to go get the hood of their car looked at and survived for damage. He shook his head, snapping himself out of his thoughts and again looked over at her. Her lips were pursed together and her eyebrows were knitted together and he knew she was in deep thought. He was about to get up in leave when she finally spoke up.
"They didn't ruin my night. Quinn's maybe."
"You only get one junior prom." He said shrugging and taking off the jacket of his suit and draping it around her shoulders. "Maybe two if you're Puckerman." He said rethinking his earlier statement. This brought a smile out of the tiny girl sitting next to him. Not a very big one. but a smile none the less and for that he was thankful. This girl had been through so much already the last thing she needed was to be sad on what was supposed to be one of the happiest days in her high school life. They sat again in silence. A comfortable silence, but a silence. He didn't like silence. He liked noise, he liked talking; singing; watching movies; listening to the radio. Anything that gave him some sort of sound. He looked down at her cheek again and shook his head. "What happened?" he asked then ran his finger over the tender skin, surprised when she didn't pull away from his touch.
"Quinn hit me."
"Are you serious?"
"She thinks that Finn still wants to be with me."
"If he did, he probably wouldn't have broken up with you. Finn just thinks that everyone should sit around, be miserable, and wait for him to come back on his white horse." He said with a role of his hazel eyes. She had to look at him now, for the first time tearing her eyes away from the star filled sky.
"Sensing a little big of jealousy?"
"He helped my girlfriend cheat on me. I'm not exactly happy with either of them." He said for the first time since eariler in the night being able to look into her eyes. She looked hurt, and sad. But mostly she looked angry. And he couldn't blame her. He'd be angry too. He sighed then got up and held his hand out to her. She looked up at him with a confused look playing on her face.
"You deserve at least one nice dance tonight."
She smiled and took off her other shoe and took his hand. He pulled her close to his body and starting swaying back and forth with her. His arms loosely wrapped around her tiny waist and her's wrapped around his neck. He smiled down at her as the song changed. Stepping away from him she had to smile at him as she picked up her shoe.
"Thanks Sam."
"Anytime, Rach." He said as they made their way to the car.
"Who's car do you think my shoe hit?" Rachel questioned as an ear piercing shriek came through the parking lot.
"Snot nosed little brats! Which one of you did this to my car? I will have you deported!"
"Rachel..."
"Oh no."
"You hit Ms. Sylvester's car."
The two busted out laughing as Sue continued to scream. Sam looked over at the tiny girl who was almost doubled over with laughter. After she caught her breath, she looked up at him with a completely red face.
"Best night ever."
