Based off of the song remembering Sunday by all time low

I don't own anything.

———

Derek was sitting at his desk but he couldn't focus on his paperwork, the only thing that he could think of was her. The girl he met when he was undercover in California, he was there for a month.

He met her on a Sunday at a bar. It was a day before he was supposed to go back to Quantico. She was sitting in the back of the bar by herself, she had long black hair with dark make up and a black dress, she was not Derek's usual type but there was just something about her that captivated Derek.

He noticed that she was finishing a glass of red wine so he he went over to the bar and ordered a beer for himself and glass of wine for her.

He walked over to her.

"Mind if I sit?" Derek asked politely.

"Sure, eyebrows." She answered with a smirk.

"I thought you could use some more wine." Derek said as he put the glass in front of her.

"Thanks but I don't take drinks from strangers, how do I know you're not trying to take advantage of me?" She said.

"I respect that." Derek replied.

"What's your name?"

"Oh wouldn't you like to know." She said jokingly. Derek chuckled, this girl was really having an effect on him.

They talked to each other for hours until the bar was about to close.

"It's getting late, can I take you home with me baby girl?" Derek asked hoping that she would say yes, he wasn't ready for their night to end just yet.

"Alright, hot stuff, if you're sure that you can handle all this." She joked.

"Oh, mama I'm sure." Derek replied.

Penelope grabbed her bag that was hanging on her chair and they walked out of the bar together.

They went back to Derek's hotel and they talked a little bit more before Penelope grabbed his hand and took him to the bedroom which was funny to Derek because it was his apartment, he should be leading her, but he let her do her thing and they ended up sleeping together.

They woke up early that morning, tangled up in each other arms, Derek was up first and he decided to make breakfast for the two of them.

Penelope woke up and got dressed and fixed her hair quickly so she looked presentable, before she made her way out of the room to find Derek.

"Hey." She smiled as she say him putting some eggs and toast on two plates.

"Hey." He replied "I made breakfast." He walked over to the small table and put down the plates.

"Thank you." Penelope started walking over to join him but her phone started to ring from her black bag that was on the living room table.

"Sorry." She said as she pulled out her phone, quickly glancing at the caller ID it said unknown but she knew exactly who it was.

"I told you to stop calling me, Shane." Penelope said as she answered the phone.

"I saw you last night, at the bar you were throwing yourself all over that guy, you're such a slut!"

"I broke up with you, you don't control me anymore." Penelope said, keeping her voice down so Derek wouldn't hear her.

"That's where you're wrong Penelope, remember how I hurt you? It would be a shame if something were to happen to your boy toy. I have all of his information right here in front of me." Shane threatened.

"Do not pull him into this." Penelope practically begged. She had only met him last night but she really liked him, she felt like they had this connection like they were supposed to be together.

Then the phone went dead "fuck." She thought. She had to get out of here, she didn't want Derek to have to get involved with her mess.

"Is everything ok?" Derek asked.

"I'm really sorry." Penelope said as she grabbed her bag before looking up to face Derek. "I have to go."

Derek noticed the change in her voice and body language, she looked scared. he didn't need to be a profiler to tell that something was very wrong.

"It's raining really hard right now, let me at least drive you home?"

"No, don't worry about me. I'll be ok." She said as she forces a smile.

Derek didn't believe he. Her eyes were glossy like she was trying not to cry. He just wanted to hold and comfort her but he knew that he couldn't stop her from leaving.

"You never did tell me your name, baby girl."

"Penelope Garcia." She answered.

"Derek Morgan." Derek replied.

And with that Penelope left the apartment and went outside into the rain.

Penelope was walking quickly desperate to get to her apartment as soon as possible so she could get out of the rain and so she could maybe find a little bit of safety, she couldn't let Shane find her, not again.

She was a few blocks away when she felt someone's arm go around her neck and started to pull her into an alley way. She tried to fight but there was not much that she could do while in a choke hold and she could hardly breathe.

The man pushed her against the wall of a building so that they were facing each other.

"Please Shane, just let me go." Penelope told him, trying her best to mask her fear. As she saw the crazy look in Shanes eyes, "he's going to kill me." She thought about all of the mistakes she has made, she shouldn't have left home, she shouldn't have gone underground, she shouldn't have become a criminal, and most of all she shouldn't have started dating Shane. This wasn't what her life was supposed to become.

There was a part of her that hoped that Derek would show up and save her, but she knew better she knew that that's not how life works not for her anyway.

"That's not going to happen, you need to learn your lesson." Shane said as he threw her to the ground and started beating her until she was unconscious lying on the ground all alone, she was going to die all alone.

Back the the office Penelope was still the only thing of Derek's mind, "what if she's the one." He thought to himself. He didn't believe in soul mates or things like that, but he's never felt this way before the connection he felt with her was unbelievable.

He got up from his desk and walked over their technical analysis's office. They've been going through a lot of T.A's lately because most people can't handle the goriness of the job.

"Hey, Josh, I need a favour." Derek said as he walked over to the analyst.

"Sure agent Morgan, what is it?" Josh asked.

"When I was undercover I met this girl, and I can't get her out of my mind I'm going crazy. I was wondering if you can track her down for me." Derek explained.

"Yeah sure, what's her name?"

"Penelope Garcia." Derek answered.

Josh pulled up his laptop and began his search.

"That's weird." Josh said.

"What is it?" Derek asked.

"Her parents died when she was eighteen, she dropped out of cal tech and after that there's nothing, it's like she just disappeared.

I'll keep looking through maybe I'll find something." Josh said

"Thank you." Derek said as he lift Josh to continue the search.

About 20 minutes later Josh went over to Derek's desk and put a folder filled with paper in front of him.

"What's this?" Derek asked as he picked up the folder.

"It's a medical report, she's been checked into the hospital this morning." Josh explained.

A wave of nervousness suddenly hit Derek. "What the hell happened to her." He thought.

He started reading the report. She had some broken ribs and some internal bleeding and a lot of bruises and defensive wounds and she was in a come due to head trauma.

"She's also been to the hospital a lot within the past two years. The records always have some excuse about falling down the stairs, or falling and hitting her head, but it sounds like domestic abuse. Josh said.

"I have to go." Derek said as he stood up. He shouldn't have let go now he was on a mission to get his girl back.

After a long flight Derek finally arrived at the hospital. He had asked a nurse where her room was and he made his way over to it.

He slowly entered the room, taking in her appearance. Her dark makeup had been washed off revealing her beautiful natural skin, she was pale and bruises littered her face and neck. Derek felt anger inside of him, wanting to kill the son of a bitch that hurt her.

He took her hand in his.

"I'm here, baby girl, I've got you and I'm not going to let anyone hurt you. I think I love you Penelope."

Penelope could hear Derek's voice she tried to respond but she couldn't move or talk or open her eyes.

She was having an out of body experience, she could see Derek and she could see herself in the hospital bed.

She heard a voice from behind her.

"Penelope." It said softly

Penelope quickly turned around immediately recognizing the voice.

"Mommy." She said as she saw her mom standing before her.

"Am I dying?"

"No sweetie, you're not dying. This is your chance to start living again. That man over there holding your hand loves you. You've been through so much horrible things but it's time for things to start getting better. You just need wake up."

Penelope and her mom hugged and Penelope was soon back in her body. She tried for a few minutes to open her eyes and she was finally able to slowly get her eyes to open.

"Hey look who's awake." Derek said exactly as he saw her eyes open.

Penelope gently squeezed his hand and said softly "I think I love you too Derek."
