Spending so much time with someone really makes you bond with them. That's exactly what happened to Volcanion. In all the years he spent at the Nebel Plateau after that traumatic incident, he has met many different pokémon, but none like Magearna. Her arrival changed something on him; he has been feeling much better ever since she has been around.
Since he arrived to the Nebel Plateau and found out that many other pokémon who had been abused by humans just like him lived there, he swore to himself that no more pokémon would have to go through such a terrible experience, he would keep them safe from the heartless creatures that humans are. But among them, there's one he cares about the most, that being Magearna. Volcanion can't understand what's the reason, all of the pokémon living there are equally important, so why is she any different?
The Steam pokémon was lost on his thoughts when suddenly something glomped him from behind. When he turned around, Volcanion discovered that a young Espurr was now clinging to his hump. That's something most of the smaller pokémon like to do, it makes them feel safer. They see Volcanion as some sort of parent figure because he is the biggest and strongest pokémon on that remote place.
Magearna does take care of them as well, she spends most of the time playing with them and making sure that they are happy. All of the pokémon, specially the younger ones, feel safe knowing that two strong pokémon such as Volcanion and Magearna are there to watch over them. It could be said that the Nebel Plateau is a happy place, a place where everyone is away from what once harmed them. Everybody can count on each other and that's what matters the most after times where they thought that they had no one to trust.
But let's go back to Volcanion. After a few minutes, the small Espurr got off of his back with Volcanion's help; he used his two arms to put the smaller pokémon down. "You are such a cuddle bug, aren't you?" The Steam pokémon asks the young Psychic type in a kind tone. Espurr just smiles as response, which makes Volcanion smile too.
Now that he thinks about it, he hasn't seen Magearna yet, she is normally one of the first pokémon he sees. Where might she be today? And even most important… Why is he suddenly thinking about it?
Regardless, Volcanion decides to go search for Magearna. It's impossible she got lost, everybody knows the Nebel Plateau very well, and it doesn't take too long to know where everything is. Maybe she just went to look for berries, which is something she does very often. Volcanion himself accompanies her most of the time and he really enjoys spending that time alone with her, but he can't still understand why so. He only knows that almost always, having her around makes his heart skip a beat.
Volcanion approaches the small field where berries grow but surprisingly, he doesn't find Magearna here. He tries looking for her near the waterfall, where she usually spends quite a lot of time. Indeed, there she is!
The Fire and Water type approaches Magearna feeling a compunction that he doesn't feel with other pokémon, maybe it's just because he doesn't want to bother her. He is always extra gentle around her, he remembers very well the day she arrived to the Nebel Plateau. Magearna was covered in dust and she looked lost, probably the person who should have taken care of her got tired and abandoned her. Thinking about that possibility made Volcanion upset, but he always tried to shake off those thoughts as soon as possible, because when he is angry it's very noticeable and that scares most of the pokémon around him.
"Hey…" Volcanion says in a low tone, standing next to Magearna. She looks over at him and suddenly her eyes seem to light up. For some reason this shocks Volcanion, but he doesn't let that be evident, just like the fact that he feels restless all of sudden. It always happens whenever she is near.
But, what about Magearna? What does she feel when the Steam pokémon is near? Well… Her little mechanic heart goes out of control and unlike Volcanion, she knows why. But it's difficult for her to convey it, mostly because her only way to express her emotions is through her eyes… But they say that the eyes are the window to the soul, so it should be more than enough. That's why her eyes light up every time he is around; it's her way to try to make him know what she feels. She only hopes that he can understand. In fact, that's why she has decided to go to the waterfall without telling anyone, she wants to think about things, about how much she wants to be with the one she loves. Of course, she doesn't mind having Volcanion by her side right now.
Magearna has always appreciated Volcanion, he took good care of her when she arrived to the Nebel Plateau and soon, she was integrated. He also spent lots of time by her side, maybe that's what made her fall for him. Now that they are alone, it would probably be a good time to go and try to make her feelings clearer.
"Why did you come here alone? Is there anything wrong and you didn't tell me?" Volcanion asks his friend, who seems to have her head on the clouds. Those words make Magearna snap out of her sudden inattention. She approaches Volcanion a bit more, which makes the Steam pokémon step back a bit, confused by the sudden proximity of the robotic pokémon… Although it's not like it makes him uncomfortable, it's actually the opposite.
Magearna makes a bunch of flowers appear on her hands, which is something she does often with all of the pokémon… Only that those flowers are normally pink, but now they are a very vivid red hue.
"Are you trying to tell me something?" Volcanion is even more restless than before, with his heart beating a mile per minute. He can't understand why he is feeling the way he does, but he doesn't want that feel to stop at all.
Without warning, Magearna approaches Volcanion even more and kisses his right cheek, causing him to widen his eyes in shock. He didn't see that one coming… Or did he? Now Magearna is looking at him, waiting for a response. Why is she doing this? Does she feel all those strange feelings as well? Volcanion suddenly finds himself with his face closer to Magearna's, looking into her eyes, waiting for a signal that allows him to continue.
Luckily for him, he doesn't have to wait any longer. Magearna closes her eyes and kisses him on the lips. Volcanion closes his eyes too, all while trying to process what's happening right now, but enjoying it as well.
After a few seconds that felt like hours, they separate from each other. "Is this what you were trying to let me know?" Volcanion asks in a low tone, almost whispering. The artificial pokémon nods as response, making Volcanion smile faintly just before kissing Magearna back. This time, their kiss lasts longer. "I feel like I've had something locked inside me for a long time, almost ever since you came into my life, but you finally made me open my eyes." Volcanion says after separating, finally understanding what's what he has been feeling all this time. He has been in love with the Man made pokémon all along, but he somehow never realized until now. But he is happy he did. Now he is looking forwards to spend many years by her side, making her happy like she deserves.
Who knows, maybe their love will make the Nebel Plateau an even nicer place!
