"Whaddya know! Pink goes with green!" Blaine says excitably but Kurt is barely listening.
He stares into the mirror, eyes unblinking as he surveys his own reflection. His skin is still a startling green but there seems to be something different about the way he looks, he looks more confident and dare he say it, almost attractive. And although part of him knows that it's pretty much an illusion, he wants to believe it. And he doesn't care that despite the fact that Blaine spent more time singing during the "makeover" then actually doing anything and that really the only thing different about him is that he has hairspray in his hair and a pink scarf around his neck.
Blaine is jumping up and down on the balls of feet beside him, the stream of compliments that leave his mouth never stopping and Kurt almost rolls his eyes at how chirpy the other boy is. Only hours ago they hated each other and here they were swapping secrets like little girls at a sleepover. Despite the fact that he's still getting used to not wanting push Blaine off a cliff he is surprised to find that he genuinely likes him and despite his shallowness, Blaine is not nearly as annoying as one would think.
"You really do look amazing!" Blaine exclaims happily and Kurt's stomachs twist at the words. "You barely even notice the green!"
"I have to go," he mutters abruptly, hoping desperately that Blaine will still want to be friends in the morning as he runs out of the room.
Thankfully Blaine apparently does and when Kurt walks into the courtyard before first lesson with Mr. Schuester he has forgone the shapeless blazer and instead is wearing a fitted white shirt, Dalton tie hanging loosely from his neck.
Trying to remember what Blaine told him about posture and tone, he flicks his head back and whispers to himself.
"H-ello."
He tries again.
"He-llo."
He is about to try it for the third time when a hand taps him on the shoulder.
Turning around Kurt finds himself face to face with Prince Sebastian and he is stunned into silence.
Sebastian may be an arrogant, pretentious asshole sometimes and he might be as dumb as Blaine is but he is good looking and he obviously means well.
"I thought that was you," Sebastian says sounding amused. "Blaine got to you then?"
"I- what?" Kurt asks, thankful for once that his blush his hidden by his green skin.
"Never mind," Sebastian shakes his head chuckling.
"Okay…" Kurt says, wondering where on earth all his words went. He feels so uncomfortable in these clothes and his hair is stiff from the hairspray making him feel like he is pretending to be someone he's not, mainly Blaine.
"You look good." Sebastian is eyeing Kurt appreciatively but it doesn't seem sleazy, more sincere than anything else.
Kurt blinks at the compliment.
"Thank you," he says and Sebastian chuckles.
"Anytime babe," he says and before Kurt can react Sebastian saunters away, hands in the pocket of his blazer.
"I think I'm in love with Sebastian!" Blaine's words from the other night come back to him and Kurt swallows hard.
The pang of jealousy in his gut is nothing new but the ache in his chest is foreign and unfamiliar and if he's being honest for once it's not because of Blaine's popularity or his skin but simply because he has Sebastian.
