"What do you mean he's coming back?" I cried out in rage, hands clenching into fists at my sides. Suddenly I felt small again, weak. And the world faded to a dull gray as memories flooded -san raised his hands as if in a surrender and spoke cautiously. "Well Mai... It seem's Naru's going to be coming back to start up SPR again.."
"Actually it's not just that" a quiet voice spoke from behind me and I turned to meet with Masako, happily cuddled up to John on the big plush sofa I'd recently purchased for my new appartment. "It seems Naru would like us to come back and work for him again. Lin and Madoka will be over shortly after the baby's delivery." Now I just felt plain confused. I was angry at his return but I just couldn't wait to see the new addition to the Koujo family. My expression softened at the thought of the new little girl about to grace all our lives and I decided that the news that just came, even if the first part was awful, had at least one thing for me to look forward to. I nodded my head toward Masako in a silent thanks for calming me and walked down the hallway towards my bedroom.
"Well I just plain refuse to work for him. I can't do that again, Masako, I just can't." I spoke a little louder then needed and wiped my eyes with the back of my hand. I gritted my teeth and blinked away oncoming tears.
"All I'm asking is you give it a shot, Mai. Not hand your heart over to him. Who knows how much has changed these past few years, how much he may have changed." She said soothingly as she wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "It'll be okay, Mai. No matter what happens, you've got us." I nodded, letting out a small sniff, and smiled brightly.
"I can't really see Naru actin' like anyone other then Naru." I laughed, "But your right. Heck this might even be what makes me get over him! And if it doesn't work out as even a friendship then I can mess with his precious tea." I grinned as the devious thoughts ran through my head.
"Mai, you're awful. Poisoning your boss won't get you any good recomendations, you know." She scolded, but the light tone and smile definitely gave her away. I gave a light shrug and we both collapsed into giggles.
