background: Booth and Bren got married a few years back. As consequence of their relationship the FBI split their partnership, so that they no longer work together. Booth works more than he ever has before while Brennan's hours were cut back. He is rarely home.
Booth walked into their house after a long day a work, make that a long month, only to find Brennan sitting on the couch with her bags packed by the door. He froze and asked what was going on, she stood up and walked towards him.
You slipped off your wedding band
And tucked it deep inside my head
Forced a smile and headed towards the door
Booth shot Brennan a confused looked and turned to follow her path. Unable to speak.
And as you walked out, I heard you say
"Things just haven't been going our way
"And I don't love you anymore"
His first though was:
Now, after the day I had
I could have done without that
Then it hit him, she wasn't coming back.
I'd rather watch the house we built
Burn to the ground
An stand out in the pouring rain

Than to sit here and watch you walk away

He replays her walking out the door in his mind, looking for a clue as to why she left. He recalls her expression and realizes how bad it is.
I've seen that look, I can always tell
It means "Stay away from me and go straight to hell"
That's exactly where I'll be when you're gone
And after a day like this, my whole world's gone
He dials her cell number only to reach her voice mail, but hangs up before he leaves a message, knowing what he would have said would not bring her back.
Oh, you're the one thing I have left
When the whole world holds me down
Now, how can I keep going when you're not around?
AN2: Okay so I don't know what is with me and making Booth the bad guy. I mean this story and my other story(which I'm thinking of just redoing and changing most of) and the one stuck in my head that I may or may not write.
