Birthday Girl

Author's Note: This takes place six years after "Hot for Teacher." Don't worry if you haven't read it, though; it isn't necessary.

"Rise and shine, Gorgeous!"

Dinah groaned, pulling the pillow over her head. "Shut up, Conner," she said groggily.

Conner shook his head in amusement. "We've got a busy day ahead of us. You wouldn't want to miss the party the League is throwing for you, now would you?"

"God, you just had to remind me of how old I am," she grumbled.

"Oh, come on, Dinah. You're turning 30. I'd hardly call that old."

"Easy for you to say – you're barely legal. Now let me go back to sleep so I can dream about the glory days of my twenties."

Conner grinned. She could be so damn adorable sometimes. "Babe, you might be getting older, but you're more and more beautiful every day."

Dinah couldn't help but smile at his words. She knew how lucky she was to have an amazing boyfriend like Conner. "Smooth talker," she shot back playfully.

"And did I mention that I'm hopelessly in love with you?" he asked in that low, oh-so-sexy voice of his.

"All right, all right," Dinah finally relented, sitting up in bed. She yawned.

But when her eyes landed on Conner, she was wide awake. Carrying a breakfast tray in his hands, he wore nothing but a pair of Calvin Klein boxers. (She had splurged on them for his Valentine's Day present last year.) No matter how many times she saw Conner shirtless, the sight of his naked torso always made her feel weak in the knees. Dinah slowly licked her lips.

He sat down next to her. "Since it's your birthday, I brought you breakfast in bed."

"That's so sweet, Conner." She pecked him on the cheek before taking a bite out of her French toast. "Mmm, this is delicious. You want some?"

When he didn't respond, Dinah turned to look at him. "Conner, are you all r – oh, my!"

He had gotten down to the floor on one knee, a ring in his hand. "Dinah Lance, I love you more than life itself. Will you marry me and make me the happiest guy on Earth?"

She gaped at him in shock. This was all so unexpected. Sure, they'd been dating for six years now, but Conner was still only 22. And how did the ring just appear out of nowhere? It definitely hadn't been on the breakfast tray. He must've secured it in the waistband of his boxers. That was such a turn-on.

"Um, Dinah?" Conner prompted nervously.

"Huh? Oh, right – sorry, I got sidetracked." She took a deep breath and then smiled. "Yes, Conner, I will marry you."

At these words, he lit up like a Christmas tree. For a brief moment, tears of joy shone in her eyes as he slid the ring on her finger.

Conner picked her up in his arms and swung her around and around.

"We're getting married!" Dinah shrieked, holding on to him tightly. Best. Birthday. Ever.
