The day had started out great. The celebration of finally graduating Tree Hill High; it was such a beautiful feeling. The smiles on everyone's faces had really got to him. He loved the way Brooke was standing independent and how Lucas and Peyton had rekindled after years of denying what was there all along. Everyone was happy and everyone had goals. Nathan was going to be a professional basketball player, that was his goal and Haley was going to be a teacher. That much was for sure, because everyone knew how she loved kids and wanted to help people all the time.
Lucas would go on to be a writer of some sorts, because everyone knew how much Lucas could touch a person with his writing. Brooke was destined for greatness with her clothing line and Peyton would always have a talent in the musical area. Her way of business was a great additive as well. All these things were planned out and outlined, since probably the beginning of the year. Everyone knew something of their future, but they weren't sure on it. Nathan was sure of one thing though. He loved his wife. He loved her with everything he had.
When Haley had started to double over on the podium, he knew immediately that his little boy was kicking and ready to come out. He had so many plans for the lil' tike! He wanted the kid to play sports, but basketball would be the kids' favorite, he knew that. It was only right to have his son love basketball. About six hours later, James Lucas Scott was born. The boy had a beautiful smile and even though he cried when he came out, he found that his son's eyes were twinkling. His son. Such an odd thing to be saying. But, the feeling he felt when he said it was great.
"I love you Nathan Scott.." Haley murmured sweetly as the nurses started to clean up James Lucas Scott. Only a few minutes later, complications were happening and like herd of cows, doctors came running from each and every end and nurses started to flock like birds. Nathan's eyes were trying to comprehend what was happening before he was ushered out of the room, only to peek through the glass and watch as they worked on her. Her lifeless body was killing him slowly and as soon as the monitors stopped and the nurses halted in their attempts to bring her back, it was then Nathan felt numb and cold; all over. The feeling came over him like a tidal wave and it was in that moment he knew he'd never be the same. The sinking feeling washed over him like the darkness slowly trampling over the light.
His bottom lip trembled as the doctor came out and the rage fully consumed him. He threw a chair against the wall, cracking it, and falling down upon the ground. The doctors were sympathetic, but they slowly walked away, leaving the young boy to his broken state. Seconds later, he scrambled to his feet and darted past the remaining nurses to stare upon his fallen angel. His lips trembled more violently and his limbs almost faltered him as he broke down, kneeling beside the bed and gripping her right hand with both of his. He found his strength, somewhere, and lifted himself up onto the bed and nuzzled her face, crying for the loss, crying for everything..crying for his wife..crying for his Haley.
