Written for the Pairing the Character Drabble Competition
Pairing: Draco/Blaise
Blaise was the quiet one and Draco wasn't sure what to make of it. He wasn't the muscle that Crabbe and Goyle were; he wasn't the banshee that announced their arrival like Pansy was. He didn't toss around insults like Draco did, didn't bully his opponents into submission like Crabbe and Goyle did, and didn't cause scenes like Pansy did.
"Whenever we get into it with Scarhead and his loser friends," Draco whispered one night in the dorms after Crabbe, Goyle, and Nott had gone to sleep, "You never say anything, you never do anything. I would think as my boyfriend, you would automatically be my second."
"I am your second," Blaise replied with the arch of a thick dark brow, "I stand to your left so that your wand hand is always free, I take three steps ahead of you so that the attention is shifted to me as well, my expressions never change because I never want our enemies to see how I really feel about you, and I'm quiet because I'm listening and you can't listen when you're screeching, arguing, or making threats."
Blaise was the quiet one and Draco loved that about him.
