Summary: Post season 6 finale, Mark and Teddy talk.
Thanks to Phoebe for betaing and Gem for coming up with the title.
Mark dropped a chart off at the nurses' station and saw Teddy working on a chart at the other end of the station. She was bent over the raised counter, signing off on the charts, her chin resting on her left hand and her blonde hair falling down to the side over her left arm.
He missed her. He realized when he watched Lexie walk off to Alex's room that she wouldn't come back to him. And that realization led him to another – he wanted Teddy. But why had it been three weeks and they were still avoiding each other? He stood watching her for another few moments then went to scrub in for his surgery.

He was almost finished with his rhinoplasty when the heart monitors started beeping in alarm.
"What's going on?" He asked the surgical team.
Someone checked out the patient, "There's a problem with her heart."
"Page cardio. Now," he ordered, then turned to the new resident. "Do an echo, try and see if you can find out what's wrong."
He noticed the movement as someone paged cardio and they got the echo ready, and he worked on finishing the rhinoplasty as quickly as he could.
Minutes later Teddy came into his OR, scrubbed in and gowned for surgery.
"What's the problem?"
"It, uh, looks like a valve leak," the resident reported.
Without looking up, Mark added. "She was fine pre-op, this just popped up a couple minutes ago."
"Alright," she replied calmly. "Let's just see what we have."
Teddy looked over the echo while Mark left the bandaging to the nurses. He waited not so patiently while she looked over the images.
"What are you going to do?" He asked the moment she put it down.
She grinned beneath her mask. This was almost the opposite from their last surgery together. She was the worried one while he was completely calm. Now she was the calm one.
"I'm going to repair the valve and she'll be fine," she told him, then asked the scrub nurse for a scalpel.

Teddy fixed the valve and she and Mark headed to the scrub room together. They stood at the sinks in silence, scrubbing out, the sound of them washing their hands and forearms filled the room.
Mark glanced at her; she was concentrating on scrubbing her hands.
"I miss you," he told her quietly, just audible over the sound of the water as he rinsed his arms.
She continued washing her hands, staring at the sink. She stepped on the bar to turn on the water and put her forearms under the stream of water, rinsing off the soap.
"I miss you, too," she finally replied.
He took a few steps towards her, placed his damp hands on either side of her face and kissed her, deeply but softly.
Teddy laced her wet arms around his neck, kissing him back. Their lips moved together for a few minutes before they broke apart, both needing air.
Mark pulled away just enough to look at her.
"I'm sorry. For sleeping with Reed, I'm sorry. I was stupid and scared. But mostly stupid," he told her, his thumb stroking her cheek.
She looked into his eyes and didn't want to be anywhere else. She sighed softly and leaned into his touch. "If we're doing this again we are exclusive."
He smiled, "I wouldn't have it any other way," he told her before leaning in to kiss her once more.
