'A Brilliant Mistake....'
V sat, holding his head in his hands-----the pain was finally getting to him. Rising from the couch, he went in search of the aspirin bottle he had seen earlier as he had walked toward the media room. Within a few minutes, he found it on the table beside Evey's purse next to the bust of Shakespeare. Grabbing the two small blue pills laying beside the bottle, he entered the kitchen, poured a glass of cold water from the icebox and popped them into his mouth, sighing heavily. Normally, if he caught the migraines as they were beginning to grow, regular painkillers were enough to take care of the headaches.
" V?" Evey's soft voice woke him some time later as she stood beside his relaxed form on the couch.
" Mmmmm....?" He mumbled groggily, " Evey?"
" How are you feeling?"
" Somewhat better." He paused, " I took the two aspirins you laid out for me next to your purse. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, love." He moved his head deeper into the plush pillow as he crossed his hands at the wrists.
" What pills-----V, I didn't lay any pills out for you--------" suddenly, her face turned pale. " Oh no V, you didn't.....?"
His eyes popped open under the mask at her tone of voice. " What ever is the matter, Evey?" He asked turning the mask to look at her.
" V..." She began as a grin crossed her lips. " Those weren't aspirins, you ninny, they were Viagra. I got them for Gordon-----he is having a bit of a problem.....well, you know....."
V sat up quickly. " Viagra?" He repeated calmly, " Oh dear lord...."
Evey dropped to the floor beside him. " What are we going to do?" Her face had taken on a more serious look.
V studied her for a moment, then chuckled. " I guess we will be trying to start our family somewhat sooner than expected." He touched her face with his hand.
Evey moved into his palm as her eyes caught glimpse of the rising bulge in his pants. " I'll go make some ice bags up. " She smiled at him. " This is going to be a long night........"
V watched as she rose from the floor and headed for the kitchen. " What a brilliant mistake I made....." He grinned as he rose and followed her in silence.
