I'm Fine
SasuSaku random one-shot
"Hey, let's go." Sasuke smacked Sakura in the side with his hand to get her attention. She was spacing out again. Sakura winced and clutched her side. She curled in on herself barley breathing. Her body trembled and she clenched her teeth, forcing back a scream. She struggled to straighten up and force away her grimace. When he realized she wasn't following him Sasuke turned around. She was upright again, but her teeth were clenched and her arm wrapped tightly around her waist. He watched her with concern but didn't reach out to touch her.
Sakura slowly took a shallow breath, only daring to pant lightly and very slowly forced her body to relax and look more natural. She kept her face to the ground, hiding her agonized expression from Sasuke.
She forced her grimace away attempting to smile and smooth over her face. She regained control of her expression and finally turned to Sasuke who was still watching her intently. She smiled at him but the smile was pained. She was tired of being the weak one of the group. She didn't want to be weak anymore.
"Are you alright?" Sasuke asked. Sakura continued smiling, but Sasuke noticed that her hand remained attached to her side and she was barley breathing.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Her voice was breathy as she spoke and she flinched lightly. "You just hit really hard Sasuke, I'm not as strong as you are remember?" she teased. Again she attempted to smile but this time if was more of a grimace. Sakura clenched her jaw and dropped her gaze. Sasuke narrowed his eyes. He hadn't hit her hard enough for her to double over like that. Had she been injured during their training with Kakashi? Sasuke brushed the thought away. She couldn't have, she barley did anything today. But why should he care? It was none of his concern.
"Come on, Naruto's waiting." Sasuke turned and walked away. Sakura's smile immediately shattered and fell away like the broken pieces of a mirror and her posture slackened. She clutched at her side more tightly, her hand covering her two cracked ribs and her bruised rib cage. She'd have to bind her torso when she got home.
"I'm fine," she whispered to the ground before letting her hand fall and straightening her shoulders. She lifted her head and walked off of Team Seven's training field to join Naruto and Sasuke. She smiled as she reached her two teammates.
"I'm fine."
