DarkStar
Steam rose hastily into the chilly morning air as the last vestiges of twilight subsided. Sarah sat numb as she stared into a pair of wicked eyes. They were the type of eyes that saw neither past nor future, but lived only for the moment. Those eyes would laugh at time and death and all the victims they claimed. But this evening, there was something within their haphazard depths that she wasn't accustomed to. Resolution. Could such a fickle creature know anything of absolutes, of ultimatums? Could he be lost to her? Gone into the twilight like so many silken whispers.
"You can't go." She said, shocked at the very idea.
"You see, there you are wrong, little girl. I can do anything." The flash of a crooked grin.
"I won't allow you to fade into the night, to vanish like some stolen kiss." Why was she saying these things…what cosmic event had shifted the position of her heart so quickly? Over and over again she'd claimed that he held no power over her.
As his sharp smile cut through her, she knew that time was up. She could no more keep him than she could catch moonbeams or chase the shadow of the sun. He has a wild thing. A darkstar.
That's the best I can do today with my worn out heart.
