I own a huge book collection that includes Harry Potter books, but I unfortunately do not own Harry Potter. Otherwise, Severus would have had a better ending. ^_^ I hope you enjoy!

Hogwarts, A History

Scorpius was browsing the shelves of Flourish & Blotts. His love of reading was something his father had never really understood. The library of Malfoy Manor had grown quickly once Scorpius had learned to read. People were always sending him new ones for Christmas and his birthday, but he read them quickly and was soon on the hunt for something new. He was extremely excited about his upcoming years at Hogwarts. He was looking forward to a whole new library to work his way through.

Every time his family made the trip to Diagon Alley he would beg his parents to let him get a new book for his collection. His father would always sigh and ask him if he would prefer to look at broomsticks, but it was always a wasted question. Scorpius had never been interested in flying or Quidditch, much to his father's dismay. In the end, Draco would always give in his book-addicted son's demands and Scorpius would leave Diagon Alley would a new book or five.

Today, however, his father had business at Gringotts and his mother was off visiting her sister, so Scorpius was allowed to book shop on his own. His browsing was much smoother and relaxing without his parents demanding he simply hurry up and pick something. They believed shopping for a book was as easy as picking up and buying the first thing you find. Sometimes Scorpius felt sorry for his parents, for they simply did not understand the need to dig through the piles of books to find the lonely, forgotten volumes buried beneath them. Nor did they understand the joy of finding the perfect thing to read. It was truly heart-breaking.

It was while he was perusing the history section that he spotted her. A beautiful, young girl standing in front of one of the towering shelves filled with history books. Next to her, on the shelf, was a pile of books she had picked out from the other various sections. Her bushy, brown hair pulled back into a clip on the back of her head to prevent it from blocking the book she was reading. Scorpius glanced at the cover and saw that she was reading Hogwarts, A History. Scorpius could not believe his luck. This girl seemed to share his love of books and knowledge and to top it off Hogwarts, A History was on of his personal favorites. His father would always frown and mumble under his breath when Scorpius would quote the book. Once Scorpius heard him mutter the words "sounds like Granger" after he quoted an entire chapter.

He walked towards her and said "That is a wonderful read. Bloody informative, as well." She looked up from her reading and smiled at him. "Oh, I know. I've read my mum's copy a hundred times already, but now that I'm off to Hogwarts, she has promised to buy me my own copy." Scorpius walked over to the shelf and pulled another copy of the book off of the shelf. "This copy costs a little more, but it has complete maps of the castle and grounds. Not to mention a section on the house-elves that work in the castle." He said handing her the thicker version of the book. The girl practically squealed in delight as she quickly put back the copy she had been holding. "Thank you!" She said. "No problem. What is your name?" He inquired. She was about to answer when a bushy-haired woman peeked her head around the shelf and said "Sweetie, it is time to go. Your father is getting impatient." The girl smiled at Scorpius, grabbed her books, and followed her mother away.

Scorpius was still standing there thinking about her when his father came to find him a few minutes later. He left without a new book that day, but he had yet another reason to be excited about going to Hogwarts.
