I don't own Midna, Link nor, 'Oh, Miss Believer' by Twenty One Pilots, I only own the plot.

His red-tipped nose with ears to match stood out brightly against the glistening white background, snow falling gently from the cloud covered sky. Although the atmosphere was calm and delightful, the air it held was much more uncomfortable.
Their feet crunched snow in an unkempt rhythm, him focusing on the task at hand, and her mind drifting off into a much darker place. He hated seeing her like this, he absolutely despised it.
"Midna." He spoke softly, hoping to bring her out of her reverie.
"Yes?" She didn't even bother to glance at him.
"I love you."
Midna's uttered reply was somewhere along the lines of "I love you too." But to Link, it sounded more like a grunt than the answer he was looking for.
Not getting the response he desired, he slowly side-stepped closer to her and reached out for Midna's teal knitted mitten to hold on to. No less then five seconds later, her hand slid out of Link's to once again meet her pocket. His patience was dwindling fast, but tried his hardest to keep level headed.
He would try one last time.
"Midna."
"Hm?"
One, giant, deep breath. "Please talk to me, I care about you."
She stopped, glassy eyes filled with peaking tears. Tiny sobs left Midna as she covered her face with her hands, soon to fall to her knees in defeat.
"Midna!" Link dropped to her level, herself hunched over and weeping miserably.
"Listen. Tell me what's the matter, please!" His voice cracked and his façade was breaking quickly.
She ignored him and with his hands he forced her to make eye contact. "Midna... Please, for the love of God please talk to me." He slowly spoke, not wanting to make himself cry. Link imagined that his eyes were bloodshot and that they carried very dark bags beneath them, this battle seemed unforgiving.
Her face shattered his heart. She was paler than usual, beautiful green eyes now dulled in colour with depression, and tear-stained cheeks completed the whole broken look.
Midna took hold of his hands, her grasp as light as the falling snow. "I-I-" Her sentence was incomplete from her upset mood and a hiccup. "-I can't."
His tears came out all at once, heating his frozen face. "You can, you have to. Tell me Midna, what's happening?"
Her emotionless eyes gazed at him blankly, her chest heaving with anxiety and sorrow.
"I care about you, for God's sake I love you. You don't need to go through this alone." Link reached up and placed his hand on her cheek, wiping away the chilly tears with his knuckle.
"I want to help you, and I don't want you to go through this alone. However, you don't need to." He leaned in, kissing Midna gingerly on the lips.
"Because you have me, and we'll make it through together."
